PHILLIES NEWS

If you have no idea that the Phillies played a game today you are not alone because this afternoon's game between the Phillies and the Nationals was not broadcast on TV. Yeah that's right you could've tried every channel on your TV and you wouldn't have found them. You would've however, been able to find them on the radio in their normal slot on the Talker 1210 am station and that's how I know about the game. Now, of course on the one day that they were not televised the Phillies decided to play their best game of the series with the Nationals. For 7 innings Cory Lidle and Livan Hernandez were locked in a pitchers duel with the Nationals leading 2-1. Then in the top of the 8th inning with 1 on and nobody out Pat Burrell stepped up to the plate and cracked a two-run homer, David Dellucci, batting for Chris Coste, followed a few batters later with a two run double, and Jimmy Rollins followed him with an RBI single to help the Phillies build a 6-2 lead. The Phillies bullpen actually closed the door for once and the Phillies walked away with a 6-2 win over the Nationals. Yep that's right Phillies fans they actually won for a change, but it wasn't on TV which is really a shame when you think about it, not! better luck next time fellas. Oh and Phils if you are going to win a game, try doing it when you are actually on TV, okay! thanks. Oh and on a more somber note Mike Lieberthal was placed back on the disabled list today for at least the next week and pitcher Chris Sanches was recalled from AAA Scranton to fill his roster spot, here's hoping Lieby takes his time getting well if you know what I mean.

PHILLIES NEWS

Well, another night another loss for the phils. If they are not losing ugly like they did last night, they are breaking my heart like they did tonight. After a long rain delay at the onset tonight's game started innocently enough with the phils taking an early 2-0 lead through the first inning and a half, than the wheels came lose from underneath Brett Myers as costly errors by David Bell in the bottom of the second inning and Pat burrell and Bobby Abreu in the third inning led to 6 Nationals runs as they sprinted to what looked like an insurmountable 7-3 lead. Just when it seemed like it was over the Phils decided to prolong my agony with a 5-spot in the top of the seventh inning on homeruns by Chase Utley and Pat burrell to take a short-lived 8-7 lead. Of course the phils bullpen couldn't hold the lead as the Nationals promptly scored the tying run in the bottom of the seventh. Miraculously, the phillies bullpen got the game into extra innings with the score tied at 8, but then in the bottom of the 12th inning Marlon Byrd, the former Phillies prospect of all people, led off with a double then somehow slid underneath Sal Fasano to score the winning run on a RBI single by bench warmer Robert Fick, figures. The final score a heartbreaking 9-8 in 12 innings. Before I end this post I would like to dedicate it to the Phillies bullpen. Thanks guys for ruining my Friday night, I really appreciate it.

FLYERS NEWS

The most interesting thing happening with the Flyers right now is that they just signed three of their draft picks from recent year's drafts and that they now have a new assistant coach in John Stevens, who replaces the recently resigned wayne fleming ,whoever he is. First of all neither one of these things is all that interesting. Does anyone even know who any of these guys are that the Flyers drafted and who knew the flyers had assistant coaches? Anyway, if you really need your hockey fix then just sit back and watch the Stanley cup finals, and try to forget that the Flyers got knocked out in the first round yet again.

EAGLES NEWS

The Eagles are currently in the middle of another mini-camp. Everybody who was supposed to show up for the camp has, including Donovan McNabb, and everybody seems to be excited about it. But really, what is there to get excited about? Does it really matter that everyone showed up? I mean who really cares that everyone showed up. Remember even T.O showed up for mini-camp last year and that really didn't change anything did it. Maybe you should be excited about the Eagles upcoming season but who cares about everyone showing up to mini-camp.

SIXERS NEWS

The sixers are currently getting ready for this month's NBA draft. They have held predraft workouts both at home in philly and this week in Orlando. Several players have worked out for them including local products Randy Foye from Villanova and Mardy Collins From Temple. Now sit back and take a deep breath for a minute, because everything you just read means absolutely nothing. Think about it, realistically do the Sixers ever draft any of the guys they invite to their early workouts. Hell no, its allways the guy they fly in for a last minute workout and sometimes he ends up being good(Allen Iverson) and sometimes he doesn't(Andre Iguodala). This year most experts predict that the sixers will take a point guard with there 13th pick presumably to play along side Iverson. but I mean in the end, does it really matter who the sixers pick , because whoever he is, he will be a nice player but for some ticky tack reason Iverson won't get along with him and the Sixers will still suck.

PHILLIES NEWS

Just when it seemed like they were about to turn over a new leaf and start a long winning streak the laws of nature intervened as what goes up must come down. And come down the Phillies did with Eude " I can't throw a strike" Brito issuing free passes all night and their offense MIA the Phillies lost the opening game of their series with the Nationals 5-2. Eude's pitching a side let's talk about who is really to blame for tonight's loss, the asshole who makes up the schedule. I mean seriously, they had to play 7:00 game on the east coast the night after playing a 7:00 game on the west coast. How can you win a game when you spend the entire night before on a plane, if the phillies players had gotten completely drunk last night and showed up for the game with hangovers they would have played just as well. Whatever happened to getting an off day when your team has to travel from one coast to the other. And It's not like this is the first time this has happened to phillies. It seems like every year they have this same problem with their schedule. What gives?
