FLYERS NEWS
With unbeaten Patriots, the Red Sox on the verge of a world championship, KG, and Ray Allen joining Paul Pierce to form a dangerous Celtics team, and Boston College primed for a national championship, the sports stratosphere has been firmly entrenched in Boston so far this year. For at least today however, the Flyers ensured that not all of the glory would go to Boston, defeating the Bruins 2-1 in Boston to snap a 2 game losing streak. Thanks to 37 saves from Marty Biron, back in the lineup after Antero Niitymaki gave him a day off, goals by Joffrey Lupul and Mike Richards were all the Flyers needed. After a scoreless first period, Boston got on the board early in the 2nd period with a power play goal. Later in the period, Richards ensured they would not score on another power play, with a shorthanded goal to tie it at 1. Then Late in the period Richards assisted on Lupul's goal, also a power play goal for a 2-1 lead. Biron kept the Bruins out of the net the rest of the way and the Flyers had their 7th win of the season, to remain in 1st place in the Atlantic division.

Tomorrow afternoon the Eagles reunite with former offensive coordinator Brad Childress and his Minnesota Vikings. It should be an interesting game, and the Eagles desperately need to win it.

FLYERS NEWS
The Flyers suddenly reverted back to their old form tonight against the Tampa Bay lightning, mostly because Marty Biron took the night off. Jeff Carter and Mike Knuble each scored a goal on the night, but Antero Niittymaki only came up with 21 saves, while allowing 5 goals on the night. Tampa Bay lead early 2-0, but a Carter's goal later in the period cut the lead to 2-1. The Lightning pushed it back up to 3-1 midway through the 2nd period, and still led 3-1 heading into the 3rd period. With just under 4 minutes to play in the 3rd, Knuble's goal cut the lead to 3-2. However, Niittymaki couldn't keep it that way, as Tampa Bay racked up a couple extra goals later in the period, to push their lead back up to 5-2. The Flyers then finally had no answer for the lightning and fell 5-2. Thus, the Flyers are now just 6-3, but remain atop the Atlantic division, which says something about their competition within the division. Anyway, as long as they are still in 1st place, the orange and black are fine with me

FLYERS NEWS
Well it finally happened, the Flyer's winning streak has come to an end at 5 games. Goals from Joffrey Lupul, Lasse Kukonen, and Jeff Carter, and 38 saves from Marty Biron were not enough tonight against the Florida Panthers, who just have the Flyers number right now, with this there 5th consecutive win over the Flyers(Florida won all 4 of their meetings with the Flyers last season). Florida's Olli Jokinen scored twice in the 1st period to put the Panthers up early 2-0. Lupul and Carter scored early in the 2nd period to knot it up at 2. Later in the period Florida's Gregory Campbell poked one by Biron to put the Panthers up 3-2. Then Campbell scored again midway through the 3rd period to put Florida up 4-2. Kukonen scored with about 3 minutes to play to cut it to 4-3, but the Flyers could not sneak another one past Panther's goalie Tomas Vokoun, and fell 4-3. Yeah, so the Flyers lost, but who cares, they're still 6-2 and on top of the Atlantic division, so what's not to like. I mean, all winning streaks have to come to an end some time right?

EAGLES NEWS
A tough season just got a whole lot tougher for the Eagles. Last week they seemingly righted their sinking ship, defeating the Jets, to improve to 2-3. Today against the struggling Bears, it seemed a safe bet to stay upright. Someone forgot to tell that Bears QB Brian Griese. The Eagles went ahead 3-0 early in the 1st quarter, and carried that lead all the way into the 2nd half. However, despite dominating Chicago on both sides of the ball in the 1st half, the Birds went 0 for 3 in red zone, and had to settle for 3 field goals and a meek 9-3 lead at the half. Chicago woke up in the 3rd quarter and began moving the ball, but they too could not get in the end zone and had to settle for 3 field goals of their own and a 12-9 lead in the middle of the 4th quarter. Then Donovan Mcnabb and the Eagles finally started hitting their marks and with just under 5 minutes to play, Mcnabb hit Matt Schobel with a 13 yard touchdown pass, to put the Birds ahead 16-12. After the Eagles defense held, Mcnabb and the offense got the ball back with 4 minutes to play, and after converting on a couple key 3rd downs, a holding penalty forced them to punt it back to Chicago with just under 2 minutes to play. Sav Rocca beautifully pinned the bears at their own 3 yard line and an Eagles victory seemed assured, especially after the clock ticked down under a minute and Chicago was still at their own 30 yard line. Then suddenly Griese just started firing. He hit Bernard Berrian for 25 yards, Devin Hester for 21, and then Mushin Muhammad for a 15 yard TD pass with 9 seconds left. Just like that the Eagles had fallen 19-16. The Eagles defense was good all day long, but they simply ran out of gas in this last drive. Also the injured Brian Dawkins was standing on the side lines for the entire drive. Remember, he's the guy who usually covers those deep routes. Do you really think they would have been open, if he'd been in the game. At any rate it's the Eagles offense that is really to blame for this. If even one of their 1st three scoring drives had gone for a touchdown, victory would have been theirs. Instead they did not capitalize and at 2-4, are now in a big hole, as they get ready to face old offensive coordinator, Brad Childress and the Vikings next week.
