PHILLIES NEWS
The Phils were set to continue their series with the Brew Crew tonight, but rain delayed the start of the game, and apparently they don't start games at midnight anymore, so the game was posponed until sunday, as yes, a part of yet another day night doubleheader. So it should be another interesting Sunday.

PHILLIES NEWS
After a poor series with the Marlins, the Phils opened a huge series with the wild card leading Milwaukee Brewers tonight at the bank. Jamie Moyer, got the start on short rest and tossed 5 and 2/3rd's clutch innings, allowing just 3 runs on 4 hits. Meanwhile, the Phils jumped out early with 4 runs in the 1st 4 innings. So they would need the bullpen to hold the lead. Now onto the game. In the bottom of the 1st, Ryan Howard slammed a 2 run homer for a 2-0 Phil's lead. In the top of the 3rd, J.J Hardy slugged a solo homer to cut the lead to 2-1. In the bottom of the 4th, Howard and Pedro Feliz each slapped RBI doubles for a 4-1 lead. The Phils finished off their series with the Marlins this afternoon. Brett Myers got the start and pitched fairly well, allowing just 4 runs on 8 hits in 7 and 1/3rd innings of work. In the top of the 3rd, Luis Gonzalez slugged a 2 run homer for a 2-1 Marlin's lead. In the top of the 4th, the Pitcher Ricky Nolasco, singled in a run for a 3-1 Marlin's lead. So the Phils drop to 79-67 overall, now 3.5 games behind the Mets and in a world of trouble.

In the bottom of the 1st, Jayson Werth singled and scored on a fielder's choice to cut the lead to 3-1. Hanley Ramirez doubled in one run, and Jorge Cantu slammed a 3 run homer for a 7-1 lead. PHILLIES NEWS
After a solid series against the Mets, that didn't quite end the way they hoped it would , the Phils returned home to begin a tough series with the Florida Marlins. Joe Blanton got the start and pitched well enough to keep the Phils in it, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits in 5 innings of work. Meanwhile, the Phils actually got off to a quick start with 5 runs in the first 2 innings. So they had the early lead and would need the bullpen to hold it. Now onto the game. In the bottom of the 1st, Chase Utley singled in one run, and Ryan Howard doubled in a second run for a 2-0 lead. In the top of the 2nd, the Marlins loaded the bases, and bleeded out a couple runs on a sac fly and a fielder's choice, to knot it at 2. In the bottom of the 2nd, a sac fly by Blanton, scored one run, a single by Jimmy Rollins pushed across a 2nd run, and a single by Howard, knocked in a 3rd run for a 5-2 lead. In the top of the 3rd, Mike Jacobs slammed a 2 run homer to cut the lead to 5-4. In the bottom of the 7th, Jayson Werth slugged a 3 run homer for an 8-4 lead. In the top of the 8th, Cody Ross crushed a 2 run homer to cut the lead to 8-6. Finally in the top of the 9th, Brad Lidge closed it out with a pair of strikeouts for the 8-6 win. So the Phils move to 79-65 overall, now just 1.5 games behind the idle Mets.

PHILLIES NEWS
After yesterday's rain out the Phils came into today needing to win both sides of a double header to pull even again with Mets. In the first game Jamie Moyer got the start and shutdown the Mets through 7 innings on just 2 hits. Meanwhile, the Phils jumped out early with 6 runs in the 1st 4 innings. So it would come down to the bullpen to hold the lead. Now onto the game. In the top of the 2nd, Matt Stairs sac flyed in one run ,and Carlos Ruiz singled in another run for a 2-0 lead. In the top of the 4th, Greg Dobbs slugged a 3 run homer and Jimmy Rollins doubled in another run for a 6-0 lead. In the bottom of the 8th, back to back doubles by David Wright and Carlos Beltran cut the lead to 6-2. Finally in the bottom of the 9th Ryan Madson, and J.C Romero combined to close out the 6-2 win, pulling the Phils to within a game of the Mets. In game 2 Cole Hamels got the start, and unfortunately he didn't bring his best stuff with him, allowing 5 runs on 9 hits in just 5 innings of work. Meanwhile, the Phils started slow with just 2 runs in those 5 innings. So they would need a late rally to pull this one out. Now onto the game. In the top of the 1st, Ryan Howard slapped an RBI single for a 1-0 Phils' lead. In the bottom of the 1st, back to back singles by Beltran and Carlos Delgado gave the Mets a 3-1 lead. In the top of the 3rd, Howard slammed a solo homer to cut the lead to 3-2. In the bottom of the 3rd Delgado crushed a solo homer for a 4-2 lead. In the bottom of the 5th, Delgado did it again for a 5-2 lead. In the bottom of the 8th, Damian Easley tripled and scored on a sac fly by Brian Schneider for a 6-2 lead. Finally in the top of the 9th, after the "Flyin Hawaiian" Shane Victorino singled and scored on a sac fly by Andy Tracy to cut the lead to 6-3, Bobby Ayala struck out Jimmy Rollins to end it in a 6-3 Met's win. So after all that the Phils are 78-65 overall and 2 games behind the Mets in the NL East.
EAGLES NEWS
What a start to the season for the Birds, as they blew away the Rams 38-3. Donovan Mcnabb looked like his old self, completing 21 of 33 passes for 361 yards and 3 TDs. The rookie Desean Jackson, suddenly thrust into the spotlight with injuries to both Kevin Curtis and Reggie Brown, looked like a seasoned pro with 6 catches for 106 yards, while Greg Lewis added 5 catches for 104 yards, and Hank Baskett pulled in 2 catches for 102 yards and a TD. Finally, Brian WestBrook was well, Brian Wesbrook, with 19 rushes, for 91 yards and a TD. Defensively, no one player stood out, but the numbers speak for themselves as, the Rams were held to just 166 yards of offense and 3 points. So it was a total team effort and a good one at that. The Eagles jumped out to a quick start, with a pair of 80 yard drives, punctuated by a 1yd TD pass to Westbrook, and a 5 yd TD pass to L.J Smith respectively. Late in the 2nd quarter Baskett hauled in 90 yd TD pass from Mcnabb, for a 21-0 halftime lead. In the 3rd quarter, Tony Hunt plunged in from a yard out for a 28-0 lead and a 23 yard Akers field goal gave the Birds a 31-0 lead heading into the 4th quarter. There after Westbrook ran it in from 6 yards out, to finish off another long drive, for a 38-0 lead, the Rams finally got on the board, as Josh Brown nailed a 46 yard field goal to cut it to 38-3. However, it was too little too late. So the Birds are 1-0 and already look to be better this season, than they were last season.
