SIXERS NEWS

Sixers 104 Hawks 89
It Was Over When....
Sixers point guard Andre Miller came back in the game with about 10:00 minutes to play in the 4th quarter and Sixers clinging to a 2 point lead at 77-75. Miller then preceded to score 8 of the Sixers next 10 points to build the lead back up to 12 and effectively put the Hawks away for good.
The Game Ball Goes To....
Andre Miller with 19 points, 8 assists, and 7 rebounds, Andre Iguodala with a game high 24 points, Samuel Dalembert with 19 points and 10 rebounds, and of course Kyle Korver with 11 points off the bench.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
54.2 as in a 54.2 field goal shooting percentage on the night for the Sixers to just a 40.3 field goal shooting percentage for the Hawks on the night. Along with their superior shooting percentage the Sixers hit 8 more shots than Hawks on the night including 5 3 pointers to the Hawks 3.
The Bottom Line Is....
Hey, maybe the Sixers are good after all, this win now gives them 3 in their last 4 and the way they have been shooting the ball lately things can only get better.

FLYERS NEWS

Rangers 2 Flyers 1
It Was Over When....
The final buzzer sounded. Yes, the Rangers took a 2-1 lead early in the 3rd period but the Flyers had nearly 17 minutes to come back with a goal of their own and had several opportunities to do so but were unable to do so before the buzzer sounded.
The Game Puck Goes To....
Goalie Henrick Lundqvist who stopped 17 of the 18 shots he faced on the night and basically got the win for the Rangers tonight.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
35 as in 35 shots on goal for the Rangers on the night to just 18 for the Flyers. Do the math and you'll see that the Rangers had nearly twice as many shots on goal as the Flyers and thus they had 2 goals and the Flyers only had 1.
The Bottom Line Is....
The Sixers might be good, who knows, but the Flyers, they're just about as bad as it gets.

SIXERS NEWS

Cavaliers 105 Sixers 97
It Was Over When....
The Sixers took the lead at 94-93 with just under 2:00 minutes to play and couldn't hold it. From that point on the Cavs went on a 12-3 run to finish the game in convincing fashion.
The Game Ball Goes To....
Drew Gooden with 21 points and 10 rebounds, Larry Hughes with 16 points and 4 assists, and Donyell Marshall with 17 points and 9 rebounds off the bench.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
50, as in a 50 3 point shooting percentage for the Cavs on the the night , to just a 30 3 point shooting percentage for the Sixers on the night. All in all the two teams were pretty even on the night, but the Cavs hit 9 threes on the night whle the Sixers hit just 3, so they won and the Sixers lost.
The Bottom Line Is....
Well, maybe the Sixers aren't really that good after all. Back on Wednesday the Sixers defeated this same Cavs team in double OT, but today with the Cavs playing without Lebron James, the Sixers lost badly. A good team would have one both games, clearly the Sixers are not a good team.

SIXERS NEWS

Sixers 118 Cavaliers 115 final in double overtime
It Was Over When....
Lebron James' last desperate attempt to tie the game at the buzzer with a 3 pointer fell short. Prior to that James had scored the Cavaliers' last 13 points in a row but he needed 3 more and didn't get them.
The Game Ball Goes To....
Andre Miller with 16 points, 8 assists, and 6 rebounds, Andre Iguodala with a career high 34 points and 9 assists, Samuel Dalembert with 20 points and 10 rebounds, and of course Kyle Korver with 13 points off the bench.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
52.4 as in a 52.4 shooting percentage for the Sixers on the night to just a 39.4 shooting percentage for the Cavs on the night. All told the Cavs hoisted 104 shots on the night while the Sixers put up just 82. However, the the Sixers hit two more shots on the night then did the Cavs. So it's not that the Sixers were that good tonight, it's that the Cavs were that bad.
The Bottom Line Is....
Hey a win is a win no matter how you get it and this one gives the Sixers 2 wins in a row, and 3 wins in their last 4 so who knows maybe the Sixers aren't that bad after all.

SIXERS NEWS

Sixers 102 Hornets 96
It Was Over When....
With about 3:00 minutes left in the 1st quarter the Hornets, trailing 18-16, were hit with a technical foul for illegal defense. Kyle Korver hit the resulting free throw and the Sixers wound up scoring the next 5 points in a row en route to a 9 point lead at the end of the 1st quarter which they would never relinquish.
The Game Ball Goes To....
Andre Miller with 17 points and 11 assists, Andre Iguodala with 20 points and 6 assists, Samuel Dalembert with 10 points and 7 rebounds, and of course Kyle Korver with 25 points off the bench.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
49.4 as in a 49.4 shooting percentage and 50 as in a 50 3 point shooting percentage for the Sixers on the night, to just 42.2 and 29.4 respectively for the Hornets on the night. The Hornets actually hoisted more 3 pointers and more shots all together than did the Sixers, yet they hit far fewer shots than did the Sixers and so they lost and the Sixers won.
The Bottom Line Is....
Either the Sixers don't really want that first pick in the draft or maybe just maybe they're actually better than we all think they are. If it's the former they'll get a chance to prove it in front of the home crowd as they get ready to begin a long homestand heading into the all-star break.

SIXERS NEWS

Spurs 99 Sixers 85
It Was Over When....
With just under 6:00 minutes to play in the 4th quarter the Sixers cut the lead to 5 and were unable to keep their momentum going, as they failed to cut into the lead any further. The Spurs subsequently regained the momentum on their side and were able to rebuild their lead and roll to victory.
The Game Ball Goes To....
Tony Parker with 8 points and 8 assists, Tim Duncan with 17 points and 15 assists, and Brent Barry with 23 points off the bench.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
47.8 as in a 47.8 3 point shooting percentage for the Spurs on the night to just a 12.5 3 point shooting percentage for the Sixers on the night. The Spurs hit 11 threes on the night, while the Sixers hit just 1 all night. Obviously it's tough to win when there is that much of a disparity in three pointing in the opponent's favor.
The Bottom Line Is....
Well, I Would like to say that I am unhappy with this loss but sadly this loss just doesn't bother me that much.

PHILLIES NEWS

The Phils re-upped all-star 2nd baseman Chase Utley today to a 7 year $85 million deal which will keep him in Philadelphia through 2013. Given the fact that Utley hit .309 last season with 32 homers and 40 doubles, 102 RBIs, and 131 runs scored this should come as no surprise. Also now that Utley has been secured only pitchers Brett Myers and Geoff Geary remain in danger of arbitration.
