EAGLES NEWS
The Eagles made the final cuts to their roster today, and there were no real surprises, other than the fact that Jerome Mcdougle failed to make the team after a solid camp and preseason, but really there was no room for him here, but he'll latch on with a new team. Other notable decisions include Tony Hunt being named the starting fullback, and Matt Schobel sneaking in behind L.J Smith and Brent Celek, as the 3rd tight end.
PHILLIES NEWS
The Phils continued their series with the Cubs tonight. Joe Blanton got the start, and pitched well, allowing just 2 runs on 2 hits in 5 and 2/3rd's innings of work. Meanwhile, the Phils' bats again failed to give him much support, with just 2 runs through 6 innings. So it would come down to the bullpen again to keep things close. Now onto the game. In the top of the 1st, "the Bat" Pat Burrell singled in a run for a 1-0 Phil's lead. In the top of the 5th, Chase Utley singled and scored on an error for a 2-0 lead. EAGLES NEWS
The Eagles finished their preseason today, with an especially meaningless game against the Jets, with most if not all of the starters riding the pine for the night. Ultimately, the Jets got the win 27-20, making the Eagles final preseason record 2-2. As for the play on the field, there were some positive performances. Offensively, Kevin Kolb started and played a good first half completing 13 of 21 passes for 138 yards, while leading 3 scoring drives. Defensively, DE Bryan Smith, the Eagles 3rd round pick in last year's draft, solidified a spot on the roster with 11 tackles and 1.5 sacks. LB Joe Mays led the team with 12 tackles on the night. Finally, Jerome Mcdougle had another solid night with 3 tackles and a sack, but with likely no room left on the roster for him, Mcdougle could be headed else where. Anyhow that ends another thrilling Eagles preseason, and now it is finally time to get ready for another exciting season of Eagles' football. All I can say is E!,A!,G!,L!,E!,S! Eagles.
