PHILLIES NEWS
Vance Worley allowed just 1 run in 6 innings but forced out of the game after that due to a high pitch count. That proved to be the Phils undoing as they entered the 9th inning down 2-1 and got down to their last strike before Ryan Howard blasted his 2nd pinch double in as many nights, to set up pinch runner Micheal Martinez to score the tying run on Carlos Ruiz' bloop single. It wasn't to be though as Micheal Schwimmer, who got his first major league win last night, ran out of gas in the top of the 11th, allowing 2 runs on the way to his first major league loss, as the Phils fell to the Cardinals 4-2. They can clinch the NL East for the 5th straight year with a win tomorrow.
FLYERS NEWS
Chris Pronger has been named Flyer's captain, the 18th different player in franchise history to be so honored. Frankly it is not really a surprise at all.

PHILLIES NEWS
The Phils and Marlins engaged in a day-night doubleheader of makeup games today. In the day half Kyle Kendrick allowed just 1 run on 2 hits in 5 innings, Raul Ibanez and Hunter Pence both slugged RBI doubles, and Ibanez gunned down Omar Infante at the plate in the 8th to preserve a 3-1 victory. In the night half John Mayberry Jr lined a solo homer, and Cliff Lee took a complete game shutout to 2 outs and 2 strikes in the 9th before Jose Lopez stunned the crowd with a game tying solo homer. From there Micheal Schwimmer retired the side in order in the top of the 10th, before Ryan Howard came off to smash a game winning pinch double in the bottom of the 10th. Now that's how you sweep a doubleheader.

Vance Worley allowed just 3 runs on 8 hits while striking out 7 in 6 and 2/3rds innings and Ryan Howard and Shane Victorino both homered, but it wasn't quite enough as the Phils fell to the Brewers 3-2. The final 3rd of the 7th inning was ultimately what did Worley and the Phils in, as Milwaukee collected 3 straight 2 out hits to take a 3-2 lead and send Worley to the showers.
