FLYERS NEWS

Devils 4 Flyers 3 final in a shootout
It Was Over When....
Brian Gionta scored with about 20 seconds left in the 3rd period to tie the game and send it into overtime and eventually a shootout won by New Jersey.
The Game Puck Goes To....
Patrick Elias with 2 assists and Brian Gionta with two goals, including the lone goal scored during the shootout.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
1 as in 1 goal scored by the Devils during the shootout, to 0 scored by the Flyers. In the end, the only real difference between the two teams on the night was that one goal in the shootout.
The Bottom Line Is....
Well, I am glad to see that at least one team in Philadelphia knows how to lose when it's supposed to, of course at this point the Flyers could probably win out and still finish with the worst record in the NHL. So way to lose one for the team guys and keep up the good work, or should I say bad work.

SIXERS NEWS

Sixers 98 Heat 95
It Was Over When....
Andre Iguodala grabbed a steal, and dunked to put the Sixers up 92-91 with just under 2:00 minutes to play in the overtime period. It may not have looked like a huge momentum change at the time, but as it turned out, following Iguodala's dunk the Heat would not score another basket until there were only 15 seconds left in the period and Sixers had built a 6 point lead with 7 straight points.
The Game Ball Goes To....
Andre Miller with 16 points and 9 assists, Andre Iguodala with 16 points, 9 assists, and 7 rebounds, Samuel Dalembert with 15 points and 5 assists, and Kyle Korver with 13 points off the bench.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
48.1 as in a 48.1 shooting percentage for the Sixers on the night to just a 36.4 shooting percentage for the Heat on the night. It's always tough to win when you shoot under 40 % for a game but incredibly despite the bad shooting the Heat wound up only losing to the Sixers by 3 points, which just demonstrates how bad the Sixers really are right now.
The Bottom Line Is....
How did the Sixers win this game? I mean don't they know they are just supposed to lose from now on so they can get that 1st pick in draft. I guess it just figures that in a season like this the Sixers would actually find a way to win when no one wants them to anymore.

FLYERS NEWS

Islanders 4 Flyers 2
It Was Over When....
The 3rd period began. The Flyers were right with the Islanders through the first 2 periods with the game tied at 2 going into the 3rd period. However, the Islanders scored 2 goals to start the 3rd period and rode those goals to victory.
The Game Puck Goes To....
Mike Sillinger with a goal and an assist, and Miroslav Satan with 2 assists.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
11 as in 11 shots on goal and 2 as in 2 goals during the 3rd period for the Islanders to just 7 and 0 respectively for the Flyers in the 3rd period. When it gets to be crunch time during the game you either have what it takes to win or not and tonight the Flyers didn't.
The Bottom Line Is....
Well this is now 7 straight losses now for the Flyers, so hey only 3 more and they match the team record for futility that they set earlier this season. So who knows? maybe the Flyers will get the first pick in the draft too.

SIXERS NEWS

Grizzlies 118 Sixers 102
It Was Over When....
It started. Sadly this one was never really that close.
The Game Ball Goes To....
Mike Miller with 30 points and 7 assists, Pau Gasol with 12 points and 12 rebounds, Lawrence Roberts with 13 points and 8 rebounds off the bench, and Rudy Gay with 23 points off the bench.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
50, as in a 50 3 point shooting percentage for the Grizzlies on the night. In their last few games the Sixers opponents have shot well from three point land, and accordingly the Sixers have struggled.
The Bottom Line Is....
Ummm can you say blowout. I mean at this point the Sixers will be lucky to win another game this season. Still if nothing else this helps to bring Sixers closer to that always coveted first pick in the draft.

SIXERS NEWS

Raptors 104 Sixers 86
It Was Over When....
The second half started. It was a farely close game for a half, with the Raptors leading 50-44 at halftime. However, Toronto outscored the Sixers 32-14 in the 3rd quarter and simply rolled to victory from there.
The Game Ball Goes To....
T.J Ford with 13 points and 10 rebounds, Chris Bosh with a game high 27 points, and Daniel Graham with 18 points off the bench.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
54.2 as in a 54.2 shooting percentage for the Raptors on the day, to just a 47.3 shooting percentage for the Sixers on the day. The Raptors simply had more firepower than the Sixers did today.
The Bottom Line Is....
This was just an ugly loss for the Sixers, but unfortunately it's not all that surprising either.

PHILLIES NEWS

The Phils resigned right-handed pitcher Ryan Madson today to a 1.1million deal for 1 year, avoiding arbitration. Madson had a bit of a up and down year last season but overall he's still a good asset for this team. Now that Madson has been signed only 4 Phils players remain on arbitration; Geoff Geary, Chase Utley, Aaron Rowand, and Brett Myers. Hopefully, they will share the same fate as Madson.
