The Phils continued their 3 game set with the Cardinals this afternoon. Adam Eaton got the start and pitched well again, but the Phils couldn't back him up with 20 more runs. So although he allowed just 3 runs on 9 hits in 6 and 2/3rd innings of work it was for naught. Now onto the game. In the bottom of the 1st, Adam Kennedy slammed a 2 run homer for a 2-0 Cards' lead. In the bottom of the 3rd, Ryan Ludwick slapped an RBI single for a 3-0 Cards' lead. In the top of the 4th, Pat "the Bat" Burrell crushed a 2 run homer to cut the lead to 3-2. From there try as they might in the final 5 innings the Phils could not find a way to tie it up and at last succumbed to old mate Ryan Franklin for a 1-2-3 9th inning to finish off a 3-2 loss. So the Phils drop to 41-29 overall but still lead the NL East by 4 games.
