After splitting 2 games with the Mets, the Phils traveled to Chicago tonight to begin a 4 game series with the Cubs. Cole Hamels got the start and tossed a gem, allowing just 1 run on 5 hits in 7 innings of work. Meanwhile, the Phils tagged Ryan Dempster for 4 runs on 8 hits through 6 innings. Now onto the game. In the top of the 1st, Chase Utley doubled and scored on a single by the "Flyin Hawaiian" Shane Victorino for a 1-0 Phils' lead. In the bottom of the 5th, Mark Derosa tripled in a run to knot it up at 1. In the top of the 6th, Carlos Ruiz singled in one run, Jimmy Rollins sac flyed in a second run, and Utley singled in a run for a 4-1 lead. In the bottom of the 8th, it all fell apart for the Phils, as once again the bullpen could not hold the lead. First, Mike Fontenot slammed a solo homer to cut the lead to 4-2, then Aramis Ramirez slugged a grand slam to put the Cubs ahead 6-4. From there, the Phils never recovered and fell to the Cubs 6-4, dropping to 73-61 overall, now 1 game behind the Mets in the NL East.
