The Phils finished their series with the Mets tonight, that's right it was only a 2 gamer, looking to solidfy the top spot in the NL East. Kyle Kendrick go the start and produced another solid effort allowing just 2 runs on 8 hits in 5 innings of work. Meanwhile, the Phils touched up Johan Santana for 3 early runs, to stake themselves to a lead for a change. So it would be up to the bullpen to hold it. Now onto the game. In the top of 1st, Carlos Delgado singled in a run for a 1-0 Met's lead. In the bottom of the 1st, Ryan Howard slammed a 2 run homer for a 2-1 Phil's lead. In the bottom of the 2nd, Jayson Werth slugged a solo homer for a 3-1 lead. In the top of the 6th, Delgado smacked a solo shot to cut the lead to 3-2. In the top of the 8th, Delgado crushed another solo shot, Danny Murphy singled in a run, and Brian Schneider blooped a 2 run single just over the head of Pedro Feliz and just foul for a 6-3 Met's lead. From there the Phils went down quietly and the Mets had their equalizer, dropping the Phils to 73-60 overall and back to .5 games behind the Mets in the NL East.
