PHILLIES NEWS

The Phils jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in game 4, thanks to a leadoff ground rule double by Jimmy Rollins, a triple by Chase Utley, and a single by Hunter Pence. Unfortunately, like Cliff Lee in game 2, Roy Oswalt couldn't hold the lead, allowing 5 runs on 6 hits in a tough 5-3 loss to the Cardinals. That means Chris Carpenter and Roy Halladay will square off at the Bank in a decisive game 5.

Vance Worley allowed just 1 run in 6 innings but forced out of the game after that due to a high pitch count. That proved to be the Phils undoing as they entered the 9th inning down 2-1 and got down to their last strike before Ryan Howard blasted his 2nd pinch double in as many nights, to set up pinch runner Micheal Martinez to score the tying run on Carlos Ruiz' bloop single. It wasn't to be though as Micheal Schwimmer, who got his first major league win last night, ran out of gas in the top of the 11th, allowing 2 runs on the way to his first major league loss, as the Phils fell to the Cardinals 4-2.
