PHILLIES NEWS
Ryan Howard was crowned the NL MVP today outlasting the Cardinals Albert Pujols. If only Major league baseball didn't take a month to give out all its awards this would mean more than it does right now. Anyhow, just so I don't shortchange Howard, I will now spot out some stats. Howard was more than deserving of this award leading not only the national league but all of major league baseball with 58 homers and 149 RBIs, while batting .313. Also Howard is the first Phillies player to be named MVP since Mike Schmidt in 1986, and only the second player in major league history to be named, rookie of the year and league MVP in consecutive seasons, after Cal Ripken Jr. in 1982 and 1983.
