PHILLIES NEWS

It didn't take long for the Phils to forget about that 13-0 loss. All they needed was for Cole Hamels to cook up a good one, and cook up a good one he did today. Initially, it looked just like last night as Giants SS Kevin Frandsen homered in the first inning. After that though, it was all Hamels who went all 9 innings, that's right a complete game, allowing just 2 runs on 5 hits while striking 5 and issuing 0, yes 0 walks on the night. Remarkably, as if those numbers weren't enough, he needed only 98 pitches to get through those 9 innings. For the Phils meanwhile, Ryan Howard had a big night with a double and 2 RBIs. Jimmy Rollins added a triple and an RBI and Jayson Werth added an RBI single, as the Phils scratched out just enough runs for a 5-2 win. So the Phils are back to within a game of .500 at 27-28 and life is beautiful again.
