PHILLIES NEWS
Adam Eaton reverted to his old inconsistent self on this Saturday night. On the night he lasted just 3 innings, allowing 6 runs on 8 hits, including homers by Jeff Francoeur and Kelly Johnson, for an early 6-1 Atlanta lead. The Phils mounted a comeback with 3 runs in the 5th inning, on a bases loaded double by Tad Iguchi and a single by Pat Burrell. The Phils then could have had more, since Burrell's single put runners on 1st and 3rd with nobody out, but Aaron Rowand and Ryan Howard struck out, and Greg Dobbs grounded out weakly to end the inning. Rowand redeemed himself with a solo homer in the 8th inning, but unfortunately the Braves had already pushed across another run as well in the top of the inning to up the lead to 7-4. Chris Coste doubled to leadoff the 9th, but Wes Helms, Jimmy Rollins, and Tad Iguchi all went down in order to end the game in a 7-5 Braves victory. So the Phils drop to 61-55, 3 games behind the Mets who also lost today, and 1 game behind San Diego ,which lost today as well, for the wildcard. Still, life sucks again.
