FLYERS NEWS
The hits just keep on coming for the Flyers. Tonight, despite all of the struggling they have endured lately they actually had a chance to move into 7th in Eastern conference, with a win in Boston over the Bruins. Marty Biron got the start in goal again, and had a dazzling night with 33 saves. So for a while it looked like the Flyer's might just get the win they needed, but it was not to be. Late in the first period of play Chuck Kobasew scored for a 1-0 Bruin's lead. Late in the second period of play Danny Briere and Mike Richards each scored goals within a few minutes of each other to push the Flyers ahead 2-1. For a while it looked that might just stand up for a Flyer's victory, but with just under 30 seconds to play Andrew Ference scored to knot it up at 2 and force the game into overtime. Then just over 2 minutes into the overtime period Aaron Ward broke the Flyer's heart's yet again, scoring for a 3-2 Boston victory. So the Flyer's drop to 35-27-10 overall, but remain 4th in the Atlantic division, and 8th in the Eastern conference, but now by only 1 point over the Buffalo Sabres. Clearly the Flyers will have to win their next game, or they'll be on the outside looking in, in a hurry.
