SIXERS NEWS

After an embarrassing home loss against the Suns the Sixer's traveled to Cleveland tonight to face Lebron and the Cavs. It was a hard fought battle, but in the end star power won out over teamwork and the Sixers had dropped their 2nd in a row. Offensively, five Sixers scored in double figures(Andre Iguodala, Andre Miller, Samuel Dalembert, Louis Williams, Thaddeus Young) with Iggy's 19 leading the way. Defensively, it was a team effort, and not quite a good enough effort, but then again nothing ever is King Jame's court. In the first quarter of play, the Sixers set the pace and jumped out to a 5 point lead with the score 27-22. In the second quarter of play the Sixers continued to pace the Cavs and still led by 5 with the score 48-43 at the half. Sadly, in the 3rd quarter of play Lebron and the Cavs turned it up a gear by the 4th quarter it was all tied up at 68. Finally, in the 4th quarter of play, Lebron proved to be too much down the stretch. With 19 seconds left and the game tied at 88, Lebron, well defended by Iggy, drove the lane and threw up a runner that banked in for a 90-88 Cavs win. Louis Williams then missed an open three pointer, and after ex-Sixer Joe Smith hit a free throw, Iggy had a chance for redemption but his three point attempt at the buzzer rimmed out and the Sixers fell 91-88. So the Sixers drop to 37-37 overall, but remain 7th in the Eastern conference, still just a half a game out 6th, and a game and a half out of 5th.
