PHILLIES NEWS
After a tough loss last night, the Phils rebounded tonight in the 3rd of their 4 game set with the Dbacks. Kyle Kendrick got the start and pitched well allowing just 3 runs on 10 hits in 6 innings of work. Meanwhile, after a rough start to the game, 2 hits in the first 6 innings, the Phils pulled another late rally to save Kendrick from the loss column. Now onto the game. In the top of the first Auggie Ojeda singled and scored on a single by Stephen Drew. In the top of the 3rd Carlos Ruiz singled and scored on a base hit by the "Flyin Hawaiian" Shane Victorino to knot it up at 1. In the bottom of the 5th, Chris Young crushed a solo homer and Ojeda tripled and scored on a fielder's choice for a 3-1 Dback's lead. In the top of the 7th Pedro Feliz slammed a 2 run homer to bring the Phils back and knot it up at 3. In the bottom of the 7th, Eric Byrnes singled and scored on a double by Conor Jackson for a 4-3 Dback's lead. In the bottom of the 8th, Victorino reached base on strikeout and a passed ball, then scored on a double by Eric Bruntlett, and Bruntlett scored on a single by Chase Utley, and suddenly the Phils were back ahead 5-4. From there Tom "Flash" Gordon and Brad Lidge closed out the Dbacks and a 5-4 Phils win. So the Phils improve to 20-15 overall and remain in first.
