PHILLIES NEWS
The Phils continued their three game set with the Braves tonight. Brett Myers got the start tonight and struggled allowing 8 runs on 9 hits in just 4 and 1/3rd innings of work. Still, the Phils nearly saved him with a late comeback, but sadly it came up just short. Now onto the game. In the top of the first Yunel Escobar and Chipper Jones each slammed solo homers for a 2-0 Braves' lead. In the top of the 2nd, Kelly Johnson banged a solo homer for a 3-0 Braves' lead. In the top of the 3rd, Brian Mcann slapped a 2 out 2 run double for a 5-0 Braves' lead. In the top of the 5th, Mcann knocked in one run with a single and Gregor Blanco slapped a 2 out single for 2 more runs, and an 8-0 Braves' lead. In the bottom of the 6th, the Phils began their comeback, as Chris Coste singled and scored on a double by Jimmy Rollins, Eric Bruntlett scored on a fielder's choice, and Chase Utely crushed a 2 run homer to cut the lead to 8-4. In the bottom of the 8th, Ryan Howard slammed a solo homer to cut the lead to 8-5. Finally with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th, Coste singled and scored on a single by Jroll, and "The Flyin Hawaiian" Shane Victorino stepped to the plate representing the tying run, but sadly he flied out to the end it, to finish off an 8-6 Braves' win. So the Phils drop to 22-19 overall, but hey that's still better than the Braves.
