The Phils continued their series with the Braves this afternoon. With staff ace Cole Hamels on the mound they appeared destined to end their current 3 game losing streak, but Hamels was roughed up allowing 9 runs on 6 hits in just 3 and 2/3rd's innings of work. So just like that the Phils seemed destined to continue their losing streak unless they could put together a big rally. Now onto the game. In the bottom of the 2nd, Chris Coste slapped a 2 run single for a 2-0 Phil's lead. In the bottom of the 3rd, Chase Utley slapped a sac fly for a 3-0 lead. In the top of 4th, Omar Infante doubled with the bases loaded for a 2 runs, Jeff Franceour slapped a sac fly for a 3rd run, Mark Kotsay singled in a 4th run, an error by Hamels allowed a 5th run to score, Gregor Blanco bunt singled in a 6th run and finally, Mark Texeira slammed a 3 run homer for a total of 9 runs and a stunning 9 -3 Brave's lead. In the bottom 0f the 5th, Ryan Howard singled in 2 runs, Pat "the Bat" Burrell, sac flyed in a 3rd run, Chris Coste singled in a 4th run, and finally Greg Dobbs slugged a pinch 3 run homer, his Phils record tying 20th pinch hit of the season, for a total of 7 runs to complete an incredible comeback for a 10-9 Phil's lead. Finally in the top of the 9th, Brad Lidge came in and retired the Braves in order for his 23rd consecutive save, and a
10 -9 Phils win. So the Phils improve to 55-49 overall and move back to within 1 game of first in the NL East.
