EAGLES NEWS

After a tough win over the Steelers last week the Birds came into tonight needing a win to join the rest of the NFC East at 3-1. It was another smash mouth game like last week, only this time Kyle Orton and the Bears were able to move the ball around a bit, at least for a half. It wasn't pretty as the Bears turned it over 4 times and both teams squandered key opportunities but eventually after a defensive stand on 4th and goal from inside the one the Bears hung on for a 24-20 win, their 2nd successive sunday night win. Apparently they don't know how to win during the day. In all Mcnabb had a solid night throwing for 262 yards and a td, but he got little help from a Westbrookless running game, as Correll Buckhalter rushed for just 66 yards on 16 carries, often forcing the Eagles to settle for field goals where they needed TDs. In fact, if not for 3 2nd half Bear's turnovers this one might have been a runaway. On their first drive of the Game the Bears drove down into Eagles territory, where Orton hit Greg Olson with a 19 yd TD pass for a 7-0 lead. Mcnabb answered a few minutes later with a 22yd TD pass to Desean Jackson. Early in the 2nd quarter following a muffed punt by Jackson, Orton hit Marty Booker with a 24 yard TD pass for a 14-7 lead. The Eagles answered capping off a long drive with a 1 yd Buckhalter TD run. Just before the half Orton hit Devin Hester for a 20 yd TD pass and a 21-14 halftime. In the 2nd half it was all about the Eagles' defense, but the offense could not take advantage of numerous turnovers, settling for David Aker's field goals late in the 3rd quarter and early in the 4th to cut the lead to 21-20. The Bears finally raked in a 2nd half score with just over 10 minutes to play, as Robbie Gould drilled a field goal for a 24-20 lead. Finally with about 3 minutes to play the Eagles had the ball 3 times from the 1 and inside the Bears 1 yard line, but Buckhalter and Hunt could not punch it in and took possession with under 3 minutes to play and ran the clock down to 31 seconds. At that point the Eagles had one final opportunity to march 60+ yards for the winning score, but after a complete pass to Reggie Brown, he failed to get out of bounds, and the Birds were unable to spike it before time ran out. So the Birds drop to 2-2 overall and into last place in the NFC East. Hopefully they won't stay there long.

The Eagles better play to there full potential or theres probably gonna be some crap coming from the media. Although it sucks to lose it is somewhat understandable since they were missing Brian Westbrook

yeah it is somewhat understandable, but the fact is they should have won and it hurts that they didn't
