Kyle Kendrick allowed 4 runs on 8 hits in 4 innings of work in a 12-0 loss to the New York Yankees. So he wasn't great, but he was at least a little bit better than in his last outing. So perhaps the competition for the 5th spot in the Phils rotation has spurred him on a little as well, but apparently not enough.
