The Phils returned to the bank tonight for a weekend series with the Atlanta Braves. Cole Hamels once again returned to the rotation after missing a start due to injury, and this time he finally managed to get through a game unscathed. After two tough losses to the Mets, "Hollywood" was just what the doctor ordered, holding the Braves to just 2 runs on 3 hits while striking out 7 in 6 strong innings. Meanwhile the Phils touched up Braves' starter Jo-Jo Reyes for 8 runs on 5 hits. So it was a good night all round for the Phils, and exactly what they needed. The Phils jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in bottom of the 2nd, on 2 errors and a 2 run double by Jimmy Rollins. In the bottom of the 3rd Jayson Werth slugged a 2 run homer for a 6-0 lead. In the top of the 4th, Brian Mcann put Atlanta on the board with a 2 run single, cutting the lead to 6-2. In the bottom of the 4th Christ Coste lined a solo homer for a 7-2 lead. In the bottom of the 5th Chase Utley crushed a solo homer for an 8-2 lead. In the top of the 8th Omar Infante slapped a solo homer to cut it to 8-3. In the bottom of the 8th Pedro Feliz doubled in one run and Greg Dobbs singled in another run for a 10-3 lead. Finally in the top of the 9th, after allowing Casey Kotchman to hit a 3 run homer, Brad Lidge retired the side to close out the 10-6 win. So the Phils improve to 15-12 overall and remain 1st in the NL East by a half a game over the Mets and the Marlins.

Nice to see the ace get a win, and along with it the retention of first place.
