The Phils finished their series with the Cubs this afternoon. Cliff Lee got the start and was electric once again, allowing just 1 run on 6 hits while striking out 8 in 8 innings. NL hitters just don't know what to do against him and he just makes it look so effortless it's ridiculous. He doesn't even ice his arm down after games. He got another hit in the game as well. He's really a freak of nature I think. Anyway while Lee was mowing them down, the Phils bats continued to be hot. Ryan Howard slammed a 3 run homer, his 1st of August, and Pedro Feliz followed a couple batters later with a solo homer for a 4-0 lead in the top of the 4th. Ryan Howard walked, stole second and scored on a single by Pedro Feliz for a 5-1 lead in the top of the 6th. Finally in the top of the 7th "the Flyin Hawaiian", Shane Victorino doubled and scored on a single by Chase Utley for a 6-1 lead and that's the way it ended with Ryan Madson closing it out in the 9th. Just as I thought the positives from yesterday did carry over. Ryan Howard got another hit, this time a homer, and walk, Pedro Feliz racked up a couple more hits and Utley had a couple hits as well. It also good to see Madson pitching well again, even if it is with a 5 run lead. The truth is he looked just as good on Tuesday when he came in with the Phils leading by 1. Hopefully he has returned to form and can makeup for Brad Lidge's struggles. So anyway the Phils are now 64-48 overall and still 4.5 games up in the NL East.

I sure am glad that the Phillies picked up Cliff Lee especially with the way he is pitching and what do you know the offense showed up again.
