The Phils continued their series with the Mets tonight. J.A Happ got the start and produced yet another stellar performance, working out of jams to keep New York to 1 run on 8 hits through 7 innings. Meanwhile, Chase Utley slammed a 2 run homer and Pedro Feliz smashed an RBI double in the top of the 6th, and Carlo Ruiz lined a sac fly in the top of the 7th to help the Phils build a 4-1 lead through 7 and 1/2 innings. From there Ryan Madson pitched a perfect 8th inning and Brad Lidge was perfect in the 9th inning, sealing the 4-1 win while registering the 700th strikeout of his career. It was encouraging to see Lidge pitch so well and you can only hope he'll be able to pitch like that in every situation from now on. I remain impressed with Happ and his uncanny ability to get out of jams. It just seems as if nothing fazes him. Tomorrow afternoon's game will be particularly intriguiging as Pedro Martinez returns to New York for the first time since the Mets released him. I think this will be the day we find out what we really have in Pedro. Anyway so with the win the Phils move to 70-50 overall and back up to 6.5 games up in the NL East.
