The phils rounded out their bench for the next season, by signing power-hitting utility outfielder Ross Gload, formerly of the Florida Marlins, to a 2 year contract. This means of course that the veteran Matt Stairs won't return to the Phils next season, probably will retire.

Its sad to see matt Stairs leave but he was kinda getting up there in age so I guess a new guy is a nice little flair to the almost same team.

yeah he was getting up there at 41 years old, so they would have had to replace him by at least next season anyway
