The Phils avoided arbitration with their 4th and final arbitration eligible player today as they agreed to a 3 year $9 million deal with Carlos Ruiz. So at this point all of the Phils championship pieces are secured through 2011 except for right fielder Jayson Werth who will be a free agent after the 2010 season. Hopefully the Phils will be able to figure out a way to bring him back but we'll see.

I think the oppurtunity to win another World Series could help bring back Werth in a year but I guess we'll see.

it could but these days dollar signs seem to have a bigger pull than championships
