FLYERS NEWS

The Flyers and Bruins met for game 2 of their conference semifinal series tonight in Boston. Having lost a heartbreaker back in game 1 the Flyers desperately needed a win tonight to even the series. Once again they fell behind early with Johnny Boychuck scoring just 5 minutes into the game. This time Mike Richards managed to tie it up at 1 late in the 1st. Then halfway through the 2nd period Miroslav Satan scored to Boston up again 2-1. Again it took the Orange and Black until late in the period but with about 25 seconds left in the period Danny Briere knotted it up again at 2. It Stayed that way until with about 3 minutes to play Milan Lucic got hold of another lucky Boston bounce and slapped it past Brian Boucher for a 3-2 lead. From there the Flyer's had chances to tie it up at again and even pulled Boucher for a 6th attacker for a while, but try as they might they couldn't come up with the equalizer.

So the head back the Wachovia center for games 3 and 4 in a 0-2 series hole. NHL teams have rallied from 0-2 down to win series on multiple occasions, including the Flyers. As even as this series has been there's no reason to believe the Orange and Black can't pull a 0-2 comeback in this one. However, they have yet lead in at all in the series and their defense is not quite handling Boston the way it was handling New Jersey. It also appears the Flyers aren't quite as deep as Boston. Thus, while they can pull the comeback it isn't going to be easy. The Flyers continued to find ways to score tonight except on the power play where they went o for 4. Anyway other than all that stuff the Orange and Black acquitted themselves quite well on this nigh. Brian Boucher had 24 saves and Briere had another goal and an assist but it just wasn't quite enough in this one. Hopefully games 3 and 4 will be different.

Well thats not the way I was looking for this series to start off; both tough losses, but I think the Flyers have the potential to take it to the Bruins. I guess we'll see in a couple of days.

A healthy Flyer's team would certainly have that potential. I am not sure a beat up Flyer's team could do the same though and so far they haven't. They may just be one guy too short at this point

You're right those injuries of Carter and Gagne are definately hurting the Flyers and I'm just hoping for the best now.
