Matt Walker, the defenseman the Flyers acquired from the Tampa Bay Lightning for Simon Gagne, is going to need to surgey on his hip and will miss 10-12 weeks. He injured the hip during a fight in the preseason and hasn't played at all so far in the regular season. Even if he was healthy there wa some question as to whether there was even room for him in the Flyer's rotation of defenseman. So losing him now is probably not that big of a deal, but it could be a big deal to add him to the roster when he comes back, especially if the Orange and Black are really hurting defensively.
