John Mayberry Jr. homered twice and Jimmy Rollins once, while Kyle Kendrick allowed just 3 runs on 7 hits while striking out 2 in 5 innings to help the Phils build an early 6-3 lead. It could have been 7-3, but right before Mayberry's 2nd homer, Dom Brown was called out for missing 2nd while legging out a triple even though replays seemed to show he didn't. That 1 run came back to haunt the Phils later as their injury depleted bullpen failed to hold the lead. David Herndon and Drew Carpenter combined to to give up the lead, in the 6th and 7th innings, while Micheal Stutes and Danys Baez combined to preserve the 6-6 tie through 9 innings. Unfortunately Baez wasn't so lucky in the 9th as Mike Stanton lined a solo shot into the seats for a 7-6 Marlins win. Despite the loss the Phils still have the best record in baseball, but now lead the NL East by only 3 games over the Atlanta Braves as the two teams prepare for a weekend series.
