FLYERS NEWS
Sabres 6 Flyers 3
It Was Over When....
Daniel Briere scored a power play goal early in the 2nd period to put the Flyers in a 4-1 hole from which they would never dig out.
The Game Puck Goes To....
Daniel Briere with a goal and 2 assists, Chris Drury with a goal and an assist, Derek Roy with a goal and an assist, Nathan Paetsch with 2 assists, and Jochen Hecht with 2 assists.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
3, as in 3 power play goals scored by the Sabres on the night in 5 opportunities to do so, to 0 scored by the Flyers in just 2 opportunities to do so. Basically if the special teams stats are that lopsided in your opponent's favor you are not going to win.
The Bottom Line Is....
Well, another day another loss for the orange and black. Hey does anyone know how many that makes now, because I lost count a while go.

Bruins 5 Flyers 3
It Was Over When....
The Bruin's Brandon Bochensksi scored early in the 3rd period to give Boston an insurmountable 5-3 lead.
The Game Puck Goes To....
Marc Savard with a goal and 2 assists, P.J. Axelsson with a goal and an assist, Phil Kessel with 2 assists, and Petr Trenkat with 2 goals.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
30, as in 30 saves for Bruins goalie Tim Thomas. Despite outshooting the Bruins 33-18 on the night the Flyers were still outscored 6-3, thanks to Thomas and his spectacular play.
The Bottom Line Is....
What? did you really expect the Flyers to win 2 in a row, you must have been dreaming.

Flyers 5 Rangers 3
It Was Over When....
The Flyers' Scottie Upshall scored early in the 3rd period to give the Flyers an insurmountable
4-1 lead.
The Game Puck Goes To....
Geoff Sanderson and Simon Gagne with a goal and an assist each.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
3, as in 3 goals scored by the Flyers in the first 2 periods to just 1 scored by the Rangers. Anytime you can score 3 early goals, you have a good chance to win.
The Bottom Line Is....
Anytime you can beat your archrival, you have to feel good about yourself, thus the Flyers should feel good tonight.

Maple Leafs 4 Flyers 2
It Was Over When....
Peter Forsberg was traded to the Predators for a couple players and a couple draft picks , prior to the game. The Flyers, clearly suffering from withdrawal, allowed the Maple Leafs to quickly jump ahead 3-0 in the 1st period and never really got into it.
The Game Puck Goes To....
Bryan Mccabe with 2 assists , and Mats Sundin with a goal and an assist.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
3 as in , 3 goals scored by the Leafs in the 1st period to 0 scored by the Flyers in the 1st period. The Flyers have seemingly fallen behind 3-0 all season long, and so far they have yet to overcome it.
The Bottom Line Is....
Well Forsberg is gone so what did you expect the Flyers to do tonight.

SIXERS NEWS
Wizards 92 Sixers 85
It Was Over When.....
The Wizards put their bench players in the game at the start of the 4th quarter. At the time they came in the game the Wizards only led by a score 0f 65-62, but 5 minutes later after runs of 5-0 and 9-3, the Wizards lead was up to 10, at 78-68, and Sixers would never again get back within 3 points of the lead.
The Game Ball Goes To....
Gilbert Arenas with 22 points and 8 rebounds, Andre Blatche with 11 points and 10 rebounds, Caron Butler with 16 points and 8 assists, Calvin Booth with 8 points and 8 rebounds off the bench, and Darius Songaila with 12 points off the bench.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
33 as in 33 total points scored by the Wizards bench on the night, to just 22 for the Sixers. While it's nice when all 5 of your starters score in double digits, as did the Sixer starters tonight, it's not always enough to win without help from the bench.
The Bottom Line Is....
It was already pretty clear that the Sixers weren't a playoff team this year, but a reminder like this never hurts, especially when the sudden excitement surrounding this team had been convincing people that there was somehow still a slim chance for this team, well not anymore people.

FLYERS NEWS
Flyers 6 Red Wings 1
It Was Over When....
The 3rd period began. When the period began the game was tied at 1, but by the time it ended the Flyers had exploded for 5 goals, 1 every 2 or 3 minutes of the period, and a 6-1 victory.
The Game Puck Goes To....
R.J Umberger with 2 goals, Peter Forsberg with a goal and an assist, Simon Gagne with a goal and an assist, Mike Knuble with 2 assists, Jeff Carter with 2 assists, and goalie Michael Leighton with 31 saves on 32 shots and his 2nd win in a row.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
5, as in 5 goals scored by the Flyers in the 3rd period tonight, to 0 scored by the Red Wings. Basically, the Flyers did to the Red Wings tonight, what other teams had been doing to them all season.
The Bottom Line Is....
Wow, I never knew the Flyers had it in them. I mean I knew the Red Wings hadn't won in Philly since 1997, but I thought for sure that this time would be different. Boy was I wrong. The Flyers actually scored some goals for once, and you know what I don't know who this Leighton guy is, but the Flyers should have acquired him off waivers earlier, because they haven't lost since they got him. Of course, all of this means absolutely nothing since the Flyers remain the NHL's worst team and there's really no chance of them getting back in the playoff chase, but hey if they keep playing like this then next year is definitely their year.

SIXERS NEWS
Mavericks 106 Sixers 89
It Was Over When....
Following an incredible 30-8 scoring run the Sixers cut the Mavs lead to 8, at 86-78, momentarily restoring hope for a Sixers victory. At that point however, it was the Mavs who held the winning hand as they went on a 12-2 run to put the game out of reach.
The Game Ball Goes To....
Jason Terry with 16 points and 11 rebounds, Dirk Nowitzki with a game high 24 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists, Josh Howard with 15 points and 5 rebounds, and Eric Dampier with 12 points and 5 rebounds.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
52 as in a 52 field goal shooting percentage for the Mavs on the night to just a 43 field goal shooting percentage for the Sixers on night. The Mavs also hit 7 three pointers to the Sixers 1. Basically the Mavs just had too much firepower for the Sixers to handle tonight.
The Bottom Line Is....
Clearly the Mavs are in a different league compared to the Sixers, but this was still a pretty good effort by the Sixers and you can't knock it.

Flyers 4 Blues 3 Final in Overtime
It Was Over When....
Simon Gagne scored 27 seconds into the overtime period.
The Game Puck Goes To....
Simon Gagne ,the Flyers lone all star this year, with 2 goals on the night, including the game tier with just under 5 minutes to play in regulation ,and the game winner in overtime.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
1, as in 1 career start and 1 career win ,including tonight, since March 23, 2004 as a Blackhawk, for Flyers goalie Michael Leighton. Congratulations, Mr. Leighton, and welcome back to the NHL, you deserve it.
The Bottom Line Is....
It's over, it's finally over, after a team record 13 consecutive home losses, the Flyers finally got a win at home, God only knows if they'll ever get another one.

SIXERS NEWS
Clippers 90 Sixers 89
It Was Over When....
Andre Iguodala's desperation 3-pointer was off the mark. Samuel Dalembert was able to lay it back in before time expired but it didn't matter as the Sixers were trailing by 3 at the time, and thus still lost by 1.
The Game Ball Goes To....
Shaun Livingston with 11 points and 8 rebounds, Elton Brand with 12 points and 8 rebounds, Chris Kaman with 15 points and 9 rebounds and Sam Cassell with 22 points and 6 assists off the bench.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
50 as in a 50 3 point field goal shooting percentage for the Clippers on the night, to just a 33.3 3 point field goal shooting percentage for the Sixers on night. Normally, 3 point shooting percentage is not that big a factor within a game, but it was tonight ,as it was the 3 pointer which the Clippers used to get the lead in the 4th quarter and it was the 3 pointer which failed Andre Iguodala on the last play of the game.
The Bottom Line Is....
Can you say heartbreaker, I mean the only thing the Sixers can do now is just try to forget about this one and move on.

Penguins 5 Flyers 4 Final in a shootout
It Was Over When.....
Sidney Crosby scored the only goal of the shootout to clinch yet another win for the Penguins over the Flyers.
The Game Puck Goes To....
Erik Christensen with a goal and an assist, Micheal Ouellet also with a goal and an assist, and Ryan Whitney with 2 assists.
The Stat Of The Game Is.....
1, as in 1 goal for the penguins in the shootout to 0 for the Flyers. It's like I have been saying all season, if it's overtime it's the other guys.
The Bottom Line Is....
Well what can I say, if the Flyers don't win another game this season I won't be surprised.

SIXERS NEWS
Sixers 93 Bobcats 82
It Was Over When....
The first quarter ended. The Sixers outscored the Bobcats 29-16 in the quarter and it just happened to hold up for the rest of the night.
The Game Ball Goes To....
Andre Miller with 13 points and 8 assists, Andre Iguodala with a game high 27 points and 7 rebounds, Steven Hunter with 10 points and 8 rebounds, and Rodney Carney with 12 points and 5 rebounds.
The Stat of The Game Is....
44.6 as in a 44.6 field goal shooting percentage for the Sixers on the night, to only a 35.2 field goal shooting percentage for the Bobcats on the night. It's like I have said before, the team that shoots better is usually the team that wins.
The Bottom Line Is....
With this win the Sixers now have 6 in their last 10, which isn't great but for this team it's pretty good, so kudos guys and keep of the good work.
FLYERS NEWS
Islanders 2 Flyers 0
It Was Over When....
It started. Islanders goalie Rick DiPietro took control of the game early and never let go, blanking the Flyers on 27 shots.
The Game Puck Goes To....
Islanders goalie Rick DiPietro who as I mentioned shutout the Flyers on 27 shots.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
0 as in, 0 goals for the Flyers on the night. Basically you can't win if you don't score.
The Bottom Line Is....
Well, another day another loss for the Flyers, what else is new.

Sixers 100 Nets 98 Final in Overtime
It Was Over When....
Vince Carter missed a 3-pointer with 1 second to play in the overtime period.
The Game Ball Goes To....
Andre Miller with 18 points and 5 assists, Andre Iguodala with a game high 23 points, 15 assists, and 7 rebounds, Samuel Dalembert with 14 points and 17 rebounds, and Joe Smith with 12 points and 7 rebounds off the bench.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
In a game such as this with 12 lead changes and 18 ties, there is really no 1 stat that one can pinpoint as the difference in the game. It simply came down to who was better at the end of the game when it counted the most, and tonight that was the Sixers.
The Bottom Line Is....
Hey, it's always nice to beat a divisional opponent and that's what the Sixers did tonight.

FLYERS NEWS
Flyers 5 Thrashers 2
It Was Over When....
The 3rd period began. The Flyers trailed 2-1 going into the 3rd period but by the time it ended they had rallied for 4 unanswered goals and a their first victory when trailing after 2 periods.
The Game Puck Goes To....
Dmitri Afanasenkov who scored the Flyers first goal of the night and assisted on what turned out to be Mike York's game winning goal early in the 3rd period.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
4, as in 4 goals scored by the Flyers in the 3rd period of tonight's game, to 0 scored by the Thrashers. I mean anytime you outscore the opposition 4-0 in any period of the game you have to feel good about your chances to win.
The Bottom Line Is....
I don't know what it is about the Thrashers but it seems like every time the Flyers play them something good happens. If only every game could be against the Thrashers, the Flyers might not be so bad, but unfortunately not every game is against the Thrashers and the Flyers really are that bad.

SIXERS NEWS
Warriors 102 Sixers 101
It Was Over When....
The Warriors Al Harrington hit a driving layup to put the Warriors up 102-101 with 1 second to play in the 4th quarter, as Andre Iguodala's subsequent desperation heave fell short to end the game.
The Game Ball Goes To....
Baron Davis with a game high 25 points and 12 assists, Monte Ellis with 21 points and 6 rebounds, Al Harrington with 11 points and 8 rebounds, Andres Biedrins with 11 points and 7 rebounds, and Mikael Pietrus with 13 points and 8 rebounds off the bench.
The Stat Of The game Is....
In a close game such as this one there is really no distinguishable stat between the two teams, so rather than look for one, we'll commend a statistical achievement instead. Therefore are stat for the night is, 25 as in 25 points, 13 as in 13 assists, and 10 as in 10 rebounds onthe night for the Sixers Andre Iguodala, his third career triple double and 2nd this season. Even in a losing effort it still rings true, so way to go Andre and keep up the good work.
The Bottom Line Is....
Yes Iguodala got a triple-double, but the Sixers still lost and that's all that matters. For, statistical achievement is great, but winning is even greater.

Devils 6 Flyers 5 Final in Overtime
It Was Over When....
The Devils Brad Lukowich scored off a deflection with about 4:10 remaining in overtime.
The Game Puck Goes To....
Brad Lukowich with a goal and an assist, Patrick Elias with a goal and 2 assists, Jamie Langenbrunner with a goal and an assist, Scott Gomez with 2 assists, Zach Parise with a goal and an assist, and Travis Zajac with 2 goals.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
Surprisingly the Flyers dominated the stat sheet tonight, however they still lost. Why? because the game went into overtime and the Devils scored and as usual the Flyers didn't. It's like I've been saying all year, if it's overtime it must be the other guys.
The Bottom Line Is....
Apparently this team has forgotten how to win at home. In fact, it's been over a month since the Flyers last won a game at home. Oh well, there's always next year fellas.
PHILLIES NEWS
The Phillies agreed with Right-hander Brett Myers to a $25.75 million, three-year contract, avoiding arbitration. Myers has won at least 11 games each of the past four seasons, and went 12-7 with a 3.91 ERA and 189 strikeouts last season, so this comes as no surprise. With Myers signed only relief Pitcher Geoff Geary remains on arbitration for the Phils.

SIXERS NEWS
Sixers 89 Hornets 78
It Was Over When....
Joe Smith hit a hook shot with just over 3 minutes to play in the 2nd quarter. From there the Sixers went on a 13-2 run to finish the half and take an 11 point lead which they would never relinquish.
The Game Ball Goes To....
Andre Iguodala with 22 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists, Steven Hunter with 12 points and 10 rebounds, Samuel Dalembert with 9 points and 15 rebounds, and Joe Smith with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
58 as in 58 rebounds for the Sixers on the night to just 40 rebounds for the Hornets on the night. At the same time the Hornets shot only 39.3% from the field on the night. Obviously if you shoot poorly and you can't get any rebounds you're not going to score a lot of points and you're not usually going to win either.
The Bottom Line Is....
You know what, forget about all the troubles the Sixers have had this season, they're playing well right now, and that's all that matters. Sure it's probably too late for them to save this season, but hey at least now there's hope for next season.

Lightning 4 Flyers 3 Final In A Shootout
It Was Over When....
The Lightning scored on their first 2 chances of the shootout and the Flyers failed to do so.
The Game Puck Goes To....
Martin St. Louis with a goal and an assist, and Vincent Lecavalier with 2 goals including the game tier with about 12 minutes to play in the 3rd period and the game winner in the shootout.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
2, as in 2 goals scored by the Lightning during the shootout to zero scored by the Flyers. I don't know what it is with shootouts, but thus far this season they just have not agreed with the Flyers this season.
The Bottom Line Is....
Well it's like I said happy days aren't ahead for this team, at least not this season.

SIXERS NEWS
Rockets 105 Sixers 84
It Was Over When....
Almost as soon as it started. The Sixers kept it close for about 6 minutes then the Rockets took their first lead of the game and never trailed again ,leading by double digits most of the way.
The Game Ball Goes To....
Rafer Alston with 12 points and 9 assists, Tracy Mcgrady with a game high 25 points, and Juwan Howard with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
50.6 as in a 50.6 field goal shooting percentage for the Rockets on the night, to just a 38.6 field goal shooting percentage for the Sixers on the night. It's like I keep saying if you shoot well you win, if you don't you lose.
The Bottom Line Is....
Okay, maybe the Sixers aren't so good after all, or maybe the Rockets are just that much better than them, who knows

FLYERS NEWS
Flyers 2 Thrashers 1
It Was Over When....
Jeff Carter scored with just over 1 minute to play in the 3rd period to put the Flyers up for good 2-1. The Thrashers had a couple opportunities to tie the game but were unable to.
The Game Puck Goes To....
Jeff carter who scored both of the Flyers' goals on the night and goalie Antero Nittymaki who stopped 37 of the 38 shots he faced en route to his first win since late November.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
For the most part the Thrashers dominated every statistical category on the night, except one, power play goals. The Flyers had 2 power play chances and scored 1 goal, while the Thrashers had 6 chances and failed to score on any of them.
The Bottom Line Is....
Well, another day another.... oh wait the Flyers actually won for a change, well how about that, I guess that just goes to show that everyone has their day and today belonged to the Flyers. Don't expect too many more days like it.
