Islanders 6 Flyers 5 Final in Overtime
It Was Over When....
The Islander's Trent Hunter scored a power play goal with just over 4 minutes to play in the overtime period. The Flyers had rallied to tie the game at 5 at the end of regulation, but Hunter's goal thwarted the Flyers comeback bid.
The Game Puck Goes To....
Jason Blake with 3 goals and an assist, Trent Hunter with 2 goals, Randy Robitaille with 3 assists, and Mike Sillinger with 2 assists.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
1, as in 1 power play goal scored by the Islanders on the night, to 0 scored by the Flyers on the night, despite having 3 opportunities to do so. Basically, the two teams were pretty even from beginning to end ,with the only difference being that 1 power play goal scored by Hunter in overtime.
The Bottom Line Is....
Well, they lost this one, but you know what they might just start winning some pretty soon, since they acquired goalie Martin Biron from the Sabres in exchange for a draft pick. With Biron the Flyers now have 3 goalies with which to rely on, although it's likely that Robert Esche will be traded away at some point. Still, with Biron in the mix the Flyers might be able to turn things around a bit, so who knows maybe they won't be so bad next year.

Sixers 89 Kings 82
It Was Over When....
The Sixers outscored the Kings 19-11 during the final 8 minutes of the game. Beforehand the game had been going back and forth between the two teams, but during these final 8 minutes the Sixers finally got the lead and held it.
The Game Ball Goes To....
Andre Miller with 18 points, 6 assists, and 6 rebounds, Andre Iguodala with 22 points, 7 assists, and 8 rebounds, and Samuel Dalembert with 20 points and 17 assists.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
55, as in 55 rebounds on the night for the Sixers, to just 40 rebounds for the Kings on the night. Anytime you get a rebounding edge that great you have a good chance to win, and so the Sixers did tonight.
The Bottom Line Is....
After 2 straight losses this is a win the Sixers needed to have and it's not really that surprising since the Kings had been struggling just as much if not more than the Sixers had been lately. Still, a win is a win, so way to go guys and keep up the good work.

EAGLES NEWS
The Eagles resigned quarterback A.J Feeley to a 3 year deal today, which means that he and not Jeff Garcia will be the Eagles backup quarterback next season. In other words, Jeff Garcia will likely be playing with someone other than the Eagles next season. So Garcia mania has officially come to an end and it's time to say good bye to Jeff. So long Jeff, it was great while it lasted, and I'll never forget you.

SIXERS NEWS
Bucks 109 Sixers 90
It Was Over When....
The 3rd quarter ended. At the half the Bucks led by only 1, but by the end of the 3rd quarter they had exploded for 32 points and an 11 point, 79-68, lead which they would never relinquish.
The Game Ball Goes To....
Mo Williams with a game high 26 points and 7 assists, Andrew Bogut with 9 points and 7 rebounds, Ruben Patterson with 13 points off the bench, and Charlie Villanueva with 11 points off the bench.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
48 as in a 3 point field goal shooting percentage of 48 for the Bucks on the night, to just a 3 point shooting percentage of 25 on the night for the Sixers. The Bucks rode their high percentage to 12, count 'em 12 threes, which is just about enough 3 pointers to pull off a win against any team, especially the Sixers who can't really shoot 3 pointers themselves.
The Bottom Line Is....
Well, this is 2 losses in a row now for the Sixers and unfortunately at this point there is nothing but more frustration on the horizon, but hey that's what you get with a young team like this.
FLYERS NEWS
Maple Leafs 5 Flyers 2
It Was Over When....
The Maple Leaf's Mats Sundin scored early in the 3rd period to give Toronto an insurmountable 4-1 lead.
The Game Puck Goes To....
Bryan McCabe with 3 assists, Jeff O'neill with a goal and an assist, and Alexander Steen with a goal and an assist.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
2, as in 2 goals scored by the Maple Leafs in both the 2nd and 3rd periods, to just 1 goal each for the Flyers in those same two periods. The Flyers just got plain outscored and outplayed tonight.
The Bottom Line Is....
Is this team ever going to win again.

SIXERS NEWS
Bobcats 102 Sixers 87
It Was Over When....
From the end of the 1st quarter to the middle of the 2nd quarter, the Bobcats went on a 15-2 run to race out to a 17 point, 39-22, lead which they would never relinquish.
The Game Ball Goes To....
Raymond Felton with 9 points, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds, Gerald Wallace with 19 points and 6 rebounds, Emeka Okafor with 16 points and 16 rebounds off the bench, and Adam Morrsion with 19 points off the bench.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
51.2, as in a 51.2 field goal shooting percentage for the Bobcats on the night, to just a 44.4 field goal shooting percentage for the Sixers on the night. It's just like the Sixers' last game, the team that shot the best is the team that won, unfortunately that team wasn't the Sixers this time.
The Bottom Line Is....
Well, after opening the post all star game portion of their season with a win over the Knicks, the Sixers followed by losing to the Bobcats, who if anything are worse than the Knicks. Thus, you can see why the Sixers aren't quite ready for primetime just yet, they just aren't consistent enough.

Hurricanes 3 Flyers 2 Final In Overtime
It Was Over When....
The Hurricanes' Glen Wesley scored a shorthanded goal with just 16 seconds into the overtime period. Prior to that goal the Flyers had rallied from behind to force overtime, but Wesley's goal broke the Flyer's hearts.
The Game Puck Goes To....
Justin Williams who assisted on both the Hurricanes first goal of the night, and Wesley's game winner in overtime.
The Stat Of the Game Is....
1, as in 1 goal scored by the Hurricanes during the overtime period, to 0 scored by the Flyers. Basically, it's like I have been saying all season, if it's overtime it must be the other team.
The Bottom Line Is....
Well it's just another day another loss for the Flyers.

Sixers 104 Knicks 84
It Was Over When....
The Sixers' bench entered the Game in the 2nd period. At the time the Sixers were trailing the Knicks 22-20, but by the end of the period the Sixers' offense had come to life and romped to a 53-38 halftime lead which they would never relinquish.
The Game Ball Goes To....
Andre Miller with 19 points and 5 assists, Andre Iguodala with 10 points and 9 assists, Samuel Dalembert with 14 points and 9 rebounds, Kyle Korver with 31 points off the bench, Joe Smith with 14 points and 8 rebounds off the bench, and Willie Green with 8 points and 5 assists off the bench.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
55.1 as in a 55.1 field goal shooting percentage, and 87.5 as in an 87.5 3 point shooting percentage for the Sixers on the night, to just 42.9 and 35.7 respectively for the Knicks on the night. Basically, if you shoot as well as the Sixers did tonight you're going to win.
The Bottom Line Is....
Hey it's always good to win your first game after the all-star break, even if you're like the Sixers and you don't have much of chance to make the playoffs.

Sabres 6 Flyers 3
It Was Over When....
Daniel Briere scored a power play goal early in the 2nd period to put the Flyers in a 4-1 hole from which they would never dig out.
The Game Puck Goes To....
Daniel Briere with a goal and 2 assists, Chris Drury with a goal and an assist, Derek Roy with a goal and an assist, Nathan Paetsch with 2 assists, and Jochen Hecht with 2 assists.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
3, as in 3 power play goals scored by the Sabres on the night in 5 opportunities to do so, to 0 scored by the Flyers in just 2 opportunities to do so. Basically if the special teams stats are that lopsided in your opponent's favor you are not going to win.
The Bottom Line Is....
Well, another day another loss for the orange and black. Hey does anyone know how many that makes now, because I lost count a while go.

The Game Puck Goes To....
Marc Savard with a goal and 2 assists, P.J. Axelsson with a goal and an assist, Phil Kessel with 2 assists, and Petr Trenkat with 2 goals.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
30, as in 30 saves for Bruins goalie Tim Thomas. Despite outshooting the Bruins 33-18 on the night the Flyers were still outscored 6-3, thanks to Thomas and his spectacular play.
The Bottom Line Is....
What? did you really expect the Flyers to win 2 in a row, you must have been dreaming.

It Was Over When....
The Flyers' Scottie Upshall scored early in the 3rd period to give the Flyers an insurmountable
4-1 lead.
The Game Puck Goes To....
Geoff Sanderson and Simon Gagne with a goal and an assist each.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
3, as in 3 goals scored by the Flyers in the first 2 periods to just 1 scored by the Rangers. Anytime you can score 3 early goals, you have a good chance to win.
The Bottom Line Is....
Anytime you can beat your archrival, you have to feel good about yourself, thus the Flyers should feel good tonight.

Maple Leafs 4 Flyers 2
It Was Over When....
Peter Forsberg was traded to the Predators for a couple players and a couple draft picks , prior to the game. The Flyers, clearly suffering from withdrawal, allowed the Maple Leafs to quickly jump ahead 3-0 in the 1st period and never really got into it.
The Game Puck Goes To....
Bryan Mccabe with 2 assists , and Mats Sundin with a goal and an assist.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
3 as in , 3 goals scored by the Leafs in the 1st period to 0 scored by the Flyers in the 1st period. The Flyers have seemingly fallen behind 3-0 all season long, and so far they have yet to overcome it.
The Bottom Line Is....
Well Forsberg is gone so what did you expect the Flyers to do tonight.

SIXERS NEWS
Wizards 92 Sixers 85
It Was Over When.....
The Wizards put their bench players in the game at the start of the 4th quarter. At the time they came in the game the Wizards only led by a score 0f 65-62, but 5 minutes later after runs of 5-0 and 9-3, the Wizards lead was up to 10, at 78-68, and Sixers would never again get back within 3 points of the lead.
The Game Ball Goes To....
Gilbert Arenas with 22 points and 8 rebounds, Andre Blatche with 11 points and 10 rebounds, Caron Butler with 16 points and 8 assists, Calvin Booth with 8 points and 8 rebounds off the bench, and Darius Songaila with 12 points off the bench.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
33 as in 33 total points scored by the Wizards bench on the night, to just 22 for the Sixers. While it's nice when all 5 of your starters score in double digits, as did the Sixer starters tonight, it's not always enough to win without help from the bench.
The Bottom Line Is....
It was already pretty clear that the Sixers weren't a playoff team this year, but a reminder like this never hurts, especially when the sudden excitement surrounding this team had been convincing people that there was somehow still a slim chance for this team, well not anymore people.

Flyers 6 Red Wings 1
It Was Over When....
The 3rd period began. When the period began the game was tied at 1, but by the time it ended the Flyers had exploded for 5 goals, 1 every 2 or 3 minutes of the period, and a 6-1 victory.
The Game Puck Goes To....
R.J Umberger with 2 goals, Peter Forsberg with a goal and an assist, Simon Gagne with a goal and an assist, Mike Knuble with 2 assists, Jeff Carter with 2 assists, and goalie Michael Leighton with 31 saves on 32 shots and his 2nd win in a row.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
5, as in 5 goals scored by the Flyers in the 3rd period tonight, to 0 scored by the Red Wings. Basically, the Flyers did to the Red Wings tonight, what other teams had been doing to them all season.
The Bottom Line Is....
Wow, I never knew the Flyers had it in them. I mean I knew the Red Wings hadn't won in Philly since 1997, but I thought for sure that this time would be different. Boy was I wrong. The Flyers actually scored some goals for once, and you know what I don't know who this Leighton guy is, but the Flyers should have acquired him off waivers earlier, because they haven't lost since they got him. Of course, all of this means absolutely nothing since the Flyers remain the NHL's worst team and there's really no chance of them getting back in the playoff chase, but hey if they keep playing like this then next year is definitely their year.

Mavericks 106 Sixers 89
It Was Over When....
Following an incredible 30-8 scoring run the Sixers cut the Mavs lead to 8, at 86-78, momentarily restoring hope for a Sixers victory. At that point however, it was the Mavs who held the winning hand as they went on a 12-2 run to put the game out of reach.
The Game Ball Goes To....
Jason Terry with 16 points and 11 rebounds, Dirk Nowitzki with a game high 24 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists, Josh Howard with 15 points and 5 rebounds, and Eric Dampier with 12 points and 5 rebounds.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
52 as in a 52 field goal shooting percentage for the Mavs on the night to just a 43 field goal shooting percentage for the Sixers on night. The Mavs also hit 7 three pointers to the Sixers 1. Basically the Mavs just had too much firepower for the Sixers to handle tonight.
The Bottom Line Is....
Clearly the Mavs are in a different league compared to the Sixers, but this was still a pretty good effort by the Sixers and you can't knock it.

Flyers 4 Blues 3 Final in Overtime
It Was Over When....
Simon Gagne scored 27 seconds into the overtime period.
The Game Puck Goes To....
Simon Gagne ,the Flyers lone all star this year, with 2 goals on the night, including the game tier with just under 5 minutes to play in regulation ,and the game winner in overtime.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
1, as in 1 career start and 1 career win ,including tonight, since March 23, 2004 as a Blackhawk, for Flyers goalie Michael Leighton. Congratulations, Mr. Leighton, and welcome back to the NHL, you deserve it.
The Bottom Line Is....
It's over, it's finally over, after a team record 13 consecutive home losses, the Flyers finally got a win at home, God only knows if they'll ever get another one.

SIXERS NEWS
Clippers 90 Sixers 89
It Was Over When....
Andre Iguodala's desperation 3-pointer was off the mark. Samuel Dalembert was able to lay it back in before time expired but it didn't matter as the Sixers were trailing by 3 at the time, and thus still lost by 1.
The Game Ball Goes To....
Shaun Livingston with 11 points and 8 rebounds, Elton Brand with 12 points and 8 rebounds, Chris Kaman with 15 points and 9 rebounds and Sam Cassell with 22 points and 6 assists off the bench.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
50 as in a 50 3 point field goal shooting percentage for the Clippers on the night, to just a 33.3 3 point field goal shooting percentage for the Sixers on night. Normally, 3 point shooting percentage is not that big a factor within a game, but it was tonight ,as it was the 3 pointer which the Clippers used to get the lead in the 4th quarter and it was the 3 pointer which failed Andre Iguodala on the last play of the game.
The Bottom Line Is....
Can you say heartbreaker, I mean the only thing the Sixers can do now is just try to forget about this one and move on.

Sidney Crosby scored the only goal of the shootout to clinch yet another win for the Penguins over the Flyers.
The Game Puck Goes To....
Erik Christensen with a goal and an assist, Micheal Ouellet also with a goal and an assist, and Ryan Whitney with 2 assists.
The Stat Of The Game Is.....
1, as in 1 goal for the penguins in the shootout to 0 for the Flyers. It's like I have been saying all season, if it's overtime it's the other guys.
The Bottom Line Is....
Well what can I say, if the Flyers don't win another game this season I won't be surprised.

Sixers 93 Bobcats 82
It Was Over When....
The first quarter ended. The Sixers outscored the Bobcats 29-16 in the quarter and it just happened to hold up for the rest of the night.
The Game Ball Goes To....
Andre Miller with 13 points and 8 assists, Andre Iguodala with a game high 27 points and 7 rebounds, Steven Hunter with 10 points and 8 rebounds, and Rodney Carney with 12 points and 5 rebounds.
The Stat of The Game Is....
44.6 as in a 44.6 field goal shooting percentage for the Sixers on the night, to only a 35.2 field goal shooting percentage for the Bobcats on the night. It's like I have said before, the team that shoots better is usually the team that wins.
The Bottom Line Is....
With this win the Sixers now have 6 in their last 10, which isn't great but for this team it's pretty good, so kudos guys and keep of the good work.

The Stat Of The Game Is....
0 as in, 0 goals for the Flyers on the night. Basically you can't win if you don't score.

Well, another day another loss for the Flyers, what else is new.

Sixers 100 Nets 98 Final in Overtime
It Was Over When....
Vince Carter missed a 3-pointer with 1 second to play in the overtime period.
The Game Ball Goes To....
Andre Miller with 18 points and 5 assists, Andre Iguodala with a game high 23 points, 15 assists, and 7 rebounds, Samuel Dalembert with 14 points and 17 rebounds, and Joe Smith with 12 points and 7 rebounds off the bench.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
In a game such as this with 12 lead changes and 18 ties, there is really no 1 stat that one can pinpoint as the difference in the game. It simply came down to who was better at the end of the game when it counted the most, and tonight that was the Sixers.
The Bottom Line Is....
Hey, it's always nice to beat a divisional opponent and that's what the Sixers did tonight.
