PHILLIES NEWS
After the 7-6 debacle against the Braves on Wednesday, things couldn't possibly get worse for the Phils, could they? Well apparently they could. J.D Durbin got the start today, and before you could say cheese, he had allowed 5 runs on 5 hits in just 4 and 1/3rd innings of work, 3 of which came in a 4 run 2nd inning on an errant throw to first by Ryan Howard after fielding a bunt. The Phils got their only 3 runs of the night in the 4th on a 3 run homer by Pat Burrell, his 26th of the season. The Rest of the way Florida added another run off Durbin on a Miguel Olivo solo homer, and a 6th run off Kane Davis in the 8th inning. Then in the 9th, Kevin Gregg closed it out in order, after walking Jayson Werth to start the inning. So the Phils fell 6-3, to drop to 73-67 overall, now 6.5 games behind the Mets in the NL East, and 3 games behind the Padres in the wildcard. Thus, life still sucks.
