PHILLIES NEWS
The Phils won tonight in dramatic fashion, 6-5 in 10 innings. Kyle Lohse got the start, and went 6 innings, allowing just 3 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 5. The Phils meanwhile, had scored just one run heading into the 6th inning. There Ryan Howard began the rally with a solo homer, his 38th of the season. Then in the bottom of the 7th, after the Rockies had upped the lead from 3-2, to 5-2, Pat Burrell slammed a clutch two out 3 run homer, to knot it up at 5. The teams respective bullpens took over from there until the bottom of the 10th, where with one one out and Chase Utley aboard first, Howard delivered a a game winning double into the right field corner. So the Phils improve to 76-67 overall, now 1.5 games behind the Padres in the wildcard, and still 6 games behind the Mets in the NL East. Thus, life remains beautiful.
