FLYERS NEWS
The Flyers suddenly reverted back to their old form tonight against the Tampa Bay lightning, mostly because Marty Biron took the night off. Jeff Carter and Mike Knuble each scored a goal on the night, but Antero Niittymaki only came up with 21 saves, while allowing 5 goals on the night. Tampa Bay lead early 2-0, but a Carter's goal later in the period cut the lead to 2-1. The Lightning pushed it back up to 3-1 midway through the 2nd period, and still led 3-1 heading into the 3rd period. With just under 4 minutes to play in the 3rd, Knuble's goal cut the lead to 3-2. However, Niittymaki couldn't keep it that way, as Tampa Bay racked up a couple extra goals later in the period, to push their lead back up to 5-2. The Flyers then finally had no answer for the lightning and fell 5-2. Thus, the Flyers are now just 6-3, but remain atop the Atlantic division, which says something about their competition within the division. Anyway, as long as they are still in 1st place, the orange and black are fine with me
