After a tough loss to the Devils last night, the Flyers rebounded tonight against the Maple Leafs. Antero Niittymaki got the rare start in goal and saved 54 shots to help shepherd the Orange and Black to victory. Late in the 1st period Steve Downie and Jeff Carter each scored for a 2-0 Flyers lead. The 2nd period was scoreless. Then in the 3rd period Mats Sundin took the Leafs on his shoulder and scored the next two goals to tie it up at 2 with about 8 minutes to play. Then with just under 3 minutes to play, Mike Richards to put the Flyers up 3-2. From there Niittymaki held the lead and Flyers hung on for the 3-2 victory. So the Flyers improve to 20-15-4 and move back up into 4th place in the Atlantic division.
