PHILLIES NEWS

The Phils continued to smack the ball around as they welcomed the Florida Marlins to the bank for a pivotal 3 game set. Meanwhile, Brett Myers finally heated up on the mound with his best start of the season thus far, allowing just 3 runs on 6 hits in 8 innings of work. Now onto the game. In the top of first Jorge Cantu knocked in one run with a single and Luis Gonzalez knocked in a couple more for a 3-0 Marlins' lead. In the bottom of the second, Chris Coste slammed a 3 run homer and Chase Utley slugged a 2 run homer for a 7-3 Phils' lead. In the bottom of the 4th, So Taguchi singled and scored on a base hit by Jimmy Rollins, and Ryan Howard crushed a 3 run homer for a 11-3 Phils' lead. In the bottom of the 7th, So Taguchi forced in a run with a bases loaded walk for a 12-3 Phils' lead. From there, Myers kept mowing them down until Clay Condrey could close it out in the 9th, to finish off a 12-3 Phils' win. So the Phils improve to 32-24 overall and at last move back into first place in the NL East. Well, it's about time.
