After getting back on track somewhat, with consecutive comeback wins over the Braves the Phils embarked on another road trip, traveling to Washington to begin a 3 game set with the Nationals. Brett Myers got the start and finally seemed to regain his form with 7 masterful innings, allowing just 1 run on 4 hits. Meanwhile, Chase Utley finally got his stroke back as well, slamming a 2 run homer to help Myer's cause. Now onto the game. In the top of the 3rd, Utley slammed his 2 run homer for a 2-0 Phil's lead. In the bottom of the 8th, Paul Lo Duca singled, and was replaced by pinch runner Christian Guzman who eventually scored on a fielder's choice to cut the lead to 2-1. Finally, in the bottom of the 9th, Brad Lidge came in and retired the Nationals in order to close out the 2-1 Phil's win. So the Phils improve to 57-49 overall, and remain .5 games out of first in the NL East
