The Phils continued their series with the Nationals tonight. Jamie Moyer got the start and pitched well, allowing just 3 runs on 6 hits in 6 innings of work. Meanwhile, the Phil's bats finally seemed to come to life, spreading 8 runs on 12 hits over 9 solid innings. Now onto the game. In the top of the 1st, Pat "the Bat" Burrell slapped a 2 run single for a 2-0 Phil's lead. In the bottom of the 1st, Willie Harris slammed a solo homer, and Jesus Flores slugged a 2 run homer for a 3-2 Nat's lead. In the top of the 5th, Jimmy Rollins doubled in one, the "Flyin Hawaiian" Shane Victorino singled for 2 more runs and Chase Utley crushed a 2 run homer for a 7-3 Phil's lead. In the top of the 7th, Victorino lined a solo shot for an 8-3 lead. In the bottom of the 7th, Pete Orr scored on a fielder's choice, and Ryan Zimmeran slapped a ground rule double for a 2nd run to cut the lead to 7-5. Finally in the bottom of the 9th, after allowing a leadoff double for Ryan Langerhans, Brad Lidge retired the side to close out the 7-5 Phil's win. So the Phils move to 58-49 overall and back into first place in the NL East, .5 games ahead of the Mets.
