The Phils finished off their series with the Nationals tonight as they looked for the sweep. Kyle Kendrick got the start and pitched well, allowing just 2 runs on 7 hits in 6 and 2/3rd's innings of work. Meanwhile, the Phils bat's continued to string together hits off the Nats with another 8 runs on 11 hits. Now onto the game. In the top of the 2nd, Jayson Werth slammed a solo homer, Eric Bruntlett scored on a fielder's choice and Carlos Ruiz scored on an error for a 3-0 Phil's lead. In the bottom of the 2nd, Kory Casto doubled and scored on a wild pitch to cut the lead to 3-1. In the bottom of the 3rd, Jesus Flores singled in a run to cut the lead to 3-2. In the top of the 4th, Jimmy Rollins slugged a 2 run homer for a 5-2 Phil's lead. In the top of the 6th, the "Flyin Hawaiian" Shane Victorino, Chase Utley, Ryan Howard, and Pat "the Bat" Burrell combined for 4 consecutive singles and 3 quick 2 out runs, for an 8-2 Phil's lead. Finally in the bottom of the 9th, After Rudy Seanez allowed a couple cheap runs, Chad Durbin came in and closed it out for an 8-4 Phil's win. So the Phils move to 59-49 overall, and 1 game up in the NL East.
