The Phils continued their series with the Cardinals tonight. Joe Blanton got the start and pitched well, allowing just 1 run on 4 hits in 7 innings of work. Meanwhile, the Phil's bats were largely silenced by the Card's Braden Looper , who allowed just 2 runs on 3 hits in 7 innings of work. So it would come down to a pitcher's duel to decide the winner. Now onto the game. In the top of the 3rd, Greg Dobbs slammed a solo homer for a 1-0 Phil's lead. In the top of the 4th, Ryan Howard slugged a solo homer for a 2-0 lead. In the bottom of the 7th, Ryan Ludwick crushed a solo homer to cut the lead to 2-1. Finally in the bottom of the 9th, Brad Lidge came in and closed it out relatively uneventfully, for a 2-1 Phils' win. So the Phils improve to 60-50 overall and move to 1.5 games up in the NL East.

I'm happy that I dont have to be sadder than I was yesterday, and I'm also happy that the Phils won and that they are ahead by more than 1 game even though its only one and a half
