Tonight the Phils returned to the bank to begin a key 3 game series with the Florida Marlins. The normally reliable Jamie Moyer, got the start and was touched up a bit, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits in just 5 innings of work. Meanwhile, the Phil's bats were held in check through the first 6 innings as Josh Johnson held the Phils scoreless on just 5 hits. Now onto the game. In the top of the 2nd, a bases loaded walk of Jeremy Hermida forced in a run for a 1-0 marlin's lead. In the top of the 4th, Hanley Ramirez scored on a fielder's choice for a 2-0 lead. In the top of the 7th, Alfredo Amezaga slapped a 2 run single for a 4-0 lead. In the bottom of the 7th, the "Flyin Hawaiian" slugged a 2 run homer, or did he? well, replays showed it was actually a foul ball, but none of the umps, so around the bases he went to cut the lead to 4-2. In the top of the 8th, Hermida singled in a run for a 5-2 lead. In the top of the 9th, Hanley Ramirez slapped a sac fly for one run, and Hermida singled with the bases loaded for two more, to put the fish up for good 8-2. Finally in the bottom of the 9th, after Carlos Ruiz led off with a walk, the phils went down in order to finish off the humiliating 8-2 loss. So the Phils drop to 61-51 overall and now lead the Marlins by just 1.5 games in the NL East.
