The Phils finished off their series with the Cubs this afternoon. The veteran Jamie Moyer got the start and toughed out 5 and 1/3rd innings, allowing just 2 runs on 8 hits. Meanwhile, Jayson Werth continued his torrid play against the Cubs, powering the Phils to 5 runs through 6 innings. So it would be up to the bullpen to hold down the fort. Now onto the game. In the top of the 1st, Ryan Howard singled in one run, and Werth slapped a 2 run double, all with 2 outs for a 3-0 Phil's lead. In the bottom of the 2nd, Ronny Cedeno and the pitcher, Sean Marshall, each singled in a run to cut the lead to 3-2. In the top of the 5th, Werth slugged a solo homer for a 4-2 lead. In the top of the 6th, Carlos Ruiz doubled and scored on a sac fly by Jimmy Rollins for a 5-2 lead. In the bottom of the 8th Henry Blanco slapped an RBI single to cut the lead to 5-3. From there the Phils' bullpen bared down until Brad Lidge came in and retired the Cubs in order for his 33rd save of the season, and 35th in the row. So the Phils salvage a series split, and move to 76-62 overall, still 1 game behind the Mets in the NL East.
