The Phils continued their series with the Marlins tonight. Kyle Kendrick got the start and was roughed up, allowing 7 runs on 6 hits in just 1 and 1/3rd innings of work. Meanwhile, the Phils got off to another slow start and would need a late rally to pull this one out. In the top of the 1st, Mike Jacobs slapped a 2 run single, and Josh Willingham sac flyed in a run for a 3-0 Marlins' lead. In the bottom of the 1st, Jayson Werth singled and scored on a fielder's choice to cut the lead to 3-1. Hanley Ramirez doubled in one run, and Jorge Cantu slammed a 3 run homer for a 7-1 lead. In the top of the 4th, Mike Jacobs slugged a 2 run homer for a 9-1 lead. In the bottom of the 4th, Ryan Howard crushed a 2 run homer and Pat "the Bat" Burrell tripled and scored on a fielder's choice to cut the lead to 9-4. In the top of the 5th, Cody Ross smacked a solo shot for a 10-4 lead. In the bottom of the 6th, the "Flyin Hawaiian" Shane Victorino singled in one run, Greg Dobbs slapped a 2 run double, and Matt Stairs singled in a run to cut the lead to 10-8. Alas, they would not get any closer as Matt Lindstrom put them down in order in the 9th. So the Phils drop to 79-66 overall and back to 2.5 games behind the Mets in the NL East.
