PHILLIES NEWS

The Phils finished off their series with the Marlins this afternoon. Brett Myers got the start and pitched fairly well, allowing just 4 runs on 8 hits in 7 and 1/3rd innings of work. However, he recieved little in the way of run support, and would need some late runs to get a win. Now onto the game. In the bottom of the 2nd, Ryan Howard slammed a solo shot for a 1-0 lead. In the top of the 3rd, Luis Gonzalez slugged a 2 run homer for a 2-1 Marlin's lead. In the top of the 4th, the Pitcher Ricky Nolasco, singled in a run for a 3-1 Marlin's lead. In the bottom of the 5th, Chris Coste doubled in one run, and Jayson Werth singled in another run to knot it up at 3. In the top of the 8th, Josh Willingham slapped an RBI double for a 4-3 lead. In the top of the 9th, Dan Uggla slapped a 2 run double and Wes Helms, yes that one, singled in another run for a 7-3 lead. Finally in the bottom of the inning the phils went down in order again, dropping the game and series to the fish. So the Phils drop to 79-67 overall, now 3.5 games behind the Mets and in a world of trouble.
