FLYERS NEWS
After a slight tumble the Flyers got back on track tonight as they welcomed the Tampa Bay Lightning to the Wachovia center. Marty Biron had another solid night saving 35 of the 38 shots he faced. Meanwhile, Mike Richards and Jeff Carter again, each scored a pair of goals to help lead the Flyers to victory. Early in the first period Carter scored his first goal for a 1-0 lead. Late in the period ex-Flyer Mark Recchi scored to knot it up at 1. Just 36 seconds into the 3rd period Richards scored his first for a 2-1 lead. A few minutes later Carter scored his second goal for a 3-1 lead. Seconds later ex-Flyer Vinny Prospal scored to cut it to 3-2. With just under 5 minutes to play another ex-Flyer, Steve Downie scored to knot it up at 3. From there neither team could score for the remainder of regulation so the game went into overtime. Finally just over 2 minutes in Carter set up Richards with the winning goal, to close out the 4-3 Flyer's win. So the Orange and Black move to 12-7-5 overall, good for 29 points, and still 6th in the Eastern Conference.
