SIXERS NEWS

After toughing out a win over the Pistons the Sixers were back in action tonight as they returned to the Wachovia center for a divisional match up with the New Jersey Nets. Just as in their last game against Detroit the Sixers fell behind early but played good enough D to hang in it until they could make a late comeback. This time however, the comeback would fall short as their shooting went too cold, at just 36% from the field and 28% from beyond the arc, and other than 13 from Lou Williams and 13 from Donyell Marshall, there was not much from the bench. Elton Brand can't return to the lineup soon enough. Anyhow, the Nets jumped out early to a 5 point lead with the score 26-21 after a quarter of play. By the half the Sixers had cut it to 3 with the score 47-44. In the 3rd quarter the Nets pushed back ahead by 4 with the score 69-65 heading into the 4th. Finally in the 4th quarter a barrage of treys allowed the Nets to pull away for good until they had held on to win by 11 with the final score 95-84. So the Sixers drop to 9-12 overall and continue to be consistently inconsistent.
