After a bit of a layoff following a 2 game winning streak the Flyers returned to action tonight at the Wachovia center as they welcomed the Buffalo Sabres to town. Marty Biron got the start in goal and put forth another solid effort saving 39 of the 42 shots he faced. Meanwhile Mike Richards scored twice to help lead the Flyers to a spectacular six goal effort. Late in the 1st period Glen Metropolit scored for a 1-0 lead. Early in the 2nd period Jaroslav Spacek scored to knot it at 1 for the Sabres. A few minutes later Braydon Coburn put the Orange and Black back ahead 2-1. Spacek scored again a few minutes later on the power play to knot it up again at 2. A couple minutes later Richards racked up his first score, shorthanded, for a 3-2 lead. Finally late in the period Derek Roy scored to knot it up again at 3. In the 3rd period it was all Flyers. Late in the period Mike Knuble scored for a 4-3 lead. Then with under a minute to play Richards and Darroll Powe each scored to put away a 6-3 Flyer's win. So the Orange and Black move to 31-16-9 overall for 71 points and still 4th in the Eastern conference.

I always like to see Buffalo lose for some reason so this win is especially savory.
