The Sixers welcomed the Miami Heat, currently one spot ahead of the Sixers in the Eastern conference, to the Wachovia center tonight, as they looked to get back over .500 yet again. For 3 quarters Miami appeared headed to victory then the Sixers turned up the defense, Royal Ivey hit a couple threes, Maurice Speights started throwing them down, and suddenly the Sixers were rolling to a key win. The bench led the way for the Sixers offense on the night, as Speights scored 15, Ivey added 11, and Lou Williams posted10, as seven Sixers scored in double figures on the night, despite a low shooting percentage from the field and beyond the arc. Defensively, the Sixers may have had their best night of the season, as they held the league's leading scorer, Dwayne Wade to just 21 points, 7 and a half points under his average, and outrebounded Miami 40-35 while posting 6 blocks and 7 steals. The Sixers actually led briefly after one quarter of play, then Miami took over in the 2nd quarter and by the start of the 4th quarter they held a semi-comfortable 6 point lead with the score 69-63. In the 4th quarter it was all Sixers as they outscored Miami 31-15, to roll to a 10 point 94-84 win. So the Sixers improve to 25-24 overall, now just a game behind Miami for 6th in the Eastern conference.

Yes, above .500 once again, but hopefully this time they can stay above it for more than a game or two.
