The Phils continued their series with the Braves this afternoon. Joe Blanton got the start and was solid, going 8 innings while allowing 6 runs on 8 hits. Unfortunately, a pair of homers ruined his outing and the Phillies' day. In the top of the 2nd Jeff Francoeur singled in a run for a 1-0 Atlanta lead. In the bottom of the 4th Chase Utley crushed a solo homer to knot it up at 1. In the top of the 5th JKelly ohnson doubled in one run, and Yunel Escobar lined a 2 run homer into the seats, for a 4-1 lead. It was still 4-1 in the top of the 8th, when Joe Blanton served up homer #2, to Brian Mcann with one on and 2 out, for a 6-1 lead. In the bottom of the 8th Raul Ibanez slugged a solo homer to cut it to 6-2. Finally in the bottom of the 9th, after Utley ripped a double, Ryan Howard grounded out to close out the 6-2 Braves win. So the Phils drop to 15-13 overall and now .5 games out of 1st in the NL East.

It just seems that the Phils cant get a good win streak goin but I havent given up hope yet...and they're only half a game out of first so when the Phils finally get their engine going they'll be back to the World Series.

um okay if that's what makes you feel better
Yea the Phillies are all I have to look forward to right now...kinda depressing considering the amount of teams Philly has.

yeah, well the Sixers and the Flyers just weren't that strong this year, but don't worry Eagles training camp starts in a couple months and then you'll have something else to look forward to
