The Phils finished their first half of the season in grand fashion this afternoon. Cole Hamels allowed just 1 run on 3 hits while striking out 6 in 8 innings on the way to his 11th win. Meanwhile, the Phils destroyed Braves pitching on the afternoon, to the tune of 14 runs on 20 hits. Things actually started slowly for them with only a few runs though first 6 innings, but from then on it seemed every pitch a Brave threw went for a hit or a run. Raul Ibanez was the leading man by far, going 2 for 5 with 6 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Micheal Martinez also had 4 hits and 2 runs scored, John Mayberry Jr. had 3 hits and 4 RBIs, Dom Brown had 3 hits, 2 RBIs, and 2 runs scored, Jimmy Rollins had 3 hits an RBI and a run scored, and finally Ryan Howard chipped in with 2 hits, an RBI, and 2 runs scored. So in the end when the dust finally settled the Phils had demolished Atlanta 14-1 to claim a 3.5 game lead and a franchise record tying 57th win heading into the All-Star break.
